Moran Bay Motel 500 U.S. 2, St. Ignace, MI 49781

"Have to leave a star, but this was a terrible experience and a total disappointment. We reserved two rooms, for six people, and paid in advance. We headed up, but were running late, so we tried to call the hotel three times to let them know our ETA. Voice mail was full each time. Sent an email and am still waiting for a response to that. Arrived at 11 PM to find the hotel dark. Called the number on the lobby door and finally got in touch with someone, only to find out there was only ONE room due to mechanical issues with the second room. We were told to try a hotel down the road, and, luckily, got their last two rooms, but at twice the price. We were also told there would be a credit issued for our botched stay at Moran Bay. Got back from our vacation and found the charge, but no credit. Contested the charge with the credit card company and they tried to reach out to the hotel to resolve the dispute. TWO MONTHS later the credit card company agreed to deny the charges since they never heard from the hotel. It was, literally, nothing but headaches."

"We have been staying here for 21 years. It’s like coming home there’s something about it that draws you back.The view from the porch is amazing it’s clean and Dave the owner is such a kind hearted man. If you are looking for a place to relax and unwind this is it especially for older people that walking may be a challenge.We love it here."

"I just spent a weekend at Moran Bay Motel. Based on other reviews, I knew it was a retro-style motel, so I wasn't expecting luxury. The room was very clean, and beds were comfortable. Owner and staff were friendly and accommodating. The deck was lined with lovely hanging flower baskets and there are chairs outside each room to sit and enjoy the spectacular view. On an amusing side-note, we observed the owner call out to his pet seagull, who flew right to him to snatch a treat. No seagull poop on the deck or railings either! I would definitely return to this delightful motel."

"This place is a dump from the getgo. The photos are from the previous owner and it looks nothing like those photos at all. All the owner does is apologize for the way it looks and how everything doesn't work. The office had day old donuts in the box by the burnt coffee in the coffee pot. There was junk in the corner and the counter was full of papers. There were bugs crawling across all the papers. He gave us a key for the room which he got out of a bowl filled with other keys from other rooms. The room looked like a garage sale of linens and bedding and the mattress was old and lumpy. Again an apology from the owner saying he bought the place a year ago and just hasn't gotten to everything that needs to be done. My husband I decided it was a dive and left. The only thing was the view but don't let that fool you. He is using old photos and taking your money What a fraud. I'm surprised that the health department hasn't shut him down!"

"Owner was nice. The room was horrible checked was at 3pm we showed up at 530pm and was told the cleaning lady was running late?? What like 8 hours late. All the rooms should be cleaned by 3pm. So we were told to come back in an hour. That was the first red flag. Then we come back and was told it was clean. I don't know what they cleaned because the carpet was not vacuumed the shower was gross the toilet wouldn't flush. The sheets didn't fit the bed any time we sat down the sheet came off the bed. The mattress needed to be replaced and the pillows were flat as a pancake. Any time we tried to sit out front in the only 2 nice chairs the owner would be sitting there. I think he just bought the place for him to sit and enjoy the view. This place needs a lot of work. Oh it also said coffee maker in the room but there wasn't one we were told to get coffee in the office. Very disappointing."
