"This is a very busy park in the summertime. Nice to be close or on the water. But the sites are fairly close, on grass and you need to work to find the most level location within the site. All sites are electric only - 30 amp. But this is the best place to camp to see the porkies. Staff is available and was visible most of the time."
"Do not camp in the middle circle, they smash you in like peas in a pod. There are no trails from the campground out so you must drive to get to the trails. They put camping next to the lake which is nice for the campers there but the rest of the camp is out of luck seeing the lake unless you go to the boat launch. Wisconsin has nicer state parks. Lake of the clouds is ok. Devils Lake in WI is much better, it has beautiful bluffs all around the lake you can hike around it."
"*This park is in the EST zone* On the positive side, the staff seemed great, the bathrooms were a bit worn yet clean, free showers, it was eerily quiet at night, and there was available laundry for $1.50/load (dryer was out of service). My real beef here is with the layouts of the sites themselves. The locations of the power boxes and fire pits, specifically. To park our trailer in a typical, perpendicular to the road config, we could either be on top of our fire pit, or the neighbors’. There was plenty of room to put the (ridiculously overbuilt, immovable) pits in better position. This was a common issue in many of the sites. About 1/3rd of our site (53) was oddly cut off by a group of trees and about 1/4 was uneven rock. It made for an awkward setup. They decided to occupy the best site in the park with a tiny home that can be rented. Which seems to be rewarding non-campers to me, I don’t get it. A few of the waterfront sites had good views, some were overgrown with trees. Sites 32 and 33 offered nice privacy. The real draw here is the park access, which was great. But if you plan on exploring further to the west in the U.P., I’d suggest looking into Lake Gogebic state park. We drove through and noticed a ton more waterfront spots and marginally better layouts. However, it’s literally right next to the highway. So if you can’t get waterfront, that might be annoying"
"Amazing campground right on the water! Had good facilities, shower house & bathrooms, even a playground area. We snagged campsite #29 and it was large for our tent but unbelievably close to the water. Fire pit situated just right for sunset. Just know that lake superior is loud at night, but we enjoyed the white noise."
"Nice campground. The bathroom and shower rooms were clean. Tons of mosquitos but maybe we were there at the wrong time? Good size sites but not a lot of privacy between sites. Some sites overlooking the lake had a great view but those were also the most crowded sites."
