"If you are a critter owner considering adoption or surrendering, DO NOT COME HERE. For guinea pig owners, consider CRITTER CORRAL GUINEA PIG RESCUE in GARY, IN or ANTICRUELTY SOCIETY in CHICAGO, IL. They are much more knowledgeable of guinea pig care and which guinea pigs are bonded vs. solo. The critters are in a small room in cages that are not appropriate for their size. Guinea pigs that are said to be bonded are in separate cages and appear anxious without much room to move. The bunnies are holed up without any space to move freely in their cages. Honestly, this place should consider just taking care of cats and dogs if they don't have the space to give these critters room to roam. They are negatively impacting their physical and mental health. Staff is also quite rude or unknowledgeable about the critters. Would never come back here. I hope those critters find good homes and leave this facility fast."

"Michiana is one of the best shelters in the area. It’s always clean, the care of the animals is top notch, and they really seem to understand each animal and their needs in their new homes. My family has adopted 2 dogs from here, and both of them were amazing. We lost our Max in 2016, but Angus (formally Bullet) has been the best dog since we adopted him in 2017. They were honest about his quirks, and not liking other dogs, but since acclimating into the family he now travels all over the US with my mom. I couldn’t recommend them enough. Every time someone mentions adopting I bring this place up. Check them out, you can even take adoptable dogs out for a day of fun!!"

"The receptionist at the shelter was super kind. When I entered their facility they were welcoming. She immediately showed me to the critters room where I was able to view all of the bunnies, play with them and decide which one I wanted. It didn’t take long and I immediately knew who the next little guy was going home with me. If you want to adopt bunnies, there are plenty of friendly ones there! They even have lots of male guinea pigs. So please adopt before you shop. If I didn’t have female guinea pigs, I definitely would’ve been taking a couple cuties home. All the cages were clean. The animals were well fed, and definitely well taken care of. This is definitely a shelter I would support. They truly care for their animals. They had a huge cat room. And while I didn’t entirely get to see all the dogs, they all look like they had plenty a room and clean kennels. I definitely plan to keep in touch with my new little bun bun. I was quick to decide at check out to make a donation to this worthy cause."
