Lance and Lavelle are extremely knowledgeable, patient and simply fantastic instructors! The five of us walked away so well informed and have a new confidence around firearms. "Forgive me for my tardiness in my review. My family and I were lucky enough to take firearms 101 last month. I had absolutely zero experience and was extremely nervous for this class but I had been putting it off for long enough. Let me just say I was blown away. Levelle (forgive me if the spelling is incorrect) and Junior were top notch. Extremely knowledgeable, professional and a lot of fun. They were just all around fantastic to be around for the day. I had never held a firearm and when I left that day, I felt confident that I was given all the proper training and knowledge I needed to feel more comfortable about firearms and firearm safety. They were patient, kind and genuine. You could just tell they really had your best interest at heart. Of course the day we went to the range it was absolutely freezing but they stayed out there until we felt like we were comfortable. My toes were numb by the end but it was worth it! "I am so happy I discovered NIFTA just weeks ago and attended my first Safety 101 training course with them. I’ve owned firearms for decades, had a conceal carry license when I lived in Chicago and was raised around firearms my whole life having police officers in the family. But this Safety 101 course not only refreshed me on safety rules I had already learned, but taught me even more steps, that if followed, would make it simply impossible to make a careless or dangerous mistake. My very first visit to the academy had me welcomed by the one and only Lovelle, who is also a trainer (haven’t had a class with him YET), but he’s awesome and fun… He looked over and prepped the new firearm I brought in to be trained on, and he provided me a much needed initial feeling of ease (I was feeling a little nervous) and a confidence that I would unquestionably become a better, safer shooter and that I would enjoy my experience and just have a great time. I HAD A BLAST! (LITERALLY AND FIGURATIVELY!) Lance Sr. and Lance Jr. are an amazing and talented Father/Son team with some of the most mind blowing accomplishments in competitive shooting. You can’t get better trainers than those two! They crossed the T’s and dotted the I’s on all of my past training; covering everything with such thoroughness that I can certainly say I received the best safety training I’ve ever received in all my years practicing firearms. And I was taught by instructors who you can clearly see are passionate about what they do and are SERIOUSLY committed to imparting their knowledge and wisdom on you for the sake of your very own safety, which transcends to the safety of your family and all those around you. I am so happy I found NIFTA and grateful they are nearby in Chesterton. They can be sure they will be seeing more of me for shooting practice at the range and future classes. This is a superior training academy for novice as well as seasoned firearms owners and all would greatly benefit from their classes! Lance Jr., lookout!
