Reviews
"Typical of expat insurance, this is a totally unethical company that does not pay out its claims, only collects money. Actually there are numerous fraudulent shell companies here. There is a Insubuy, Patriot America Plus, Sirius Point, and International Medical Group (IMG). The United Health Care on the insurance cards is a complete fraud. The underwriter IMG does not have a company, only a phone room. I got injured on my trip, requiring surgery. Brandon told my nurse that surgery precertification is not required. I knew this was a lie. Then Loralyn Mango denied coverage due to a ‘pre-existing condition,’ which was a total lie. She would never take my numerous calls. Then Ona gave my nurse a wrong fax number for the appeal letter. Now they are waiting 90 days to open my appeal letter, while I pay cash for my expensive surgery. This is an insurance nightmare. So I paid Insubuy two thousand dollars for a fake insurance policy and came to America without health coverage again. I spoiled days of my trip fighting with runaround specialist agents. As a nebulous floating expat there is no insurance commissioner to report these hyenas to. Thank you for your slick marketing and fake fraudulent products. You are so clever."
"Unfortunately, like many others from the reviews, I found that this is the worst insurance company. They never answered my emails or refunded my claims, citing pre-existing conditions and numerous other inadequate reasons (it has also been over a year of trying to reach out). I advise against booking with them and recommend choosing a trustworthy company."
"BELIEVE the recent reviews you are seeing. I have the same issue as others. I have been trying for nearly a year to get my claim paid. Once I submitted, I was told to submit additional information. I submitted the additional information well within 90 days as requested via secure message (I have email proof of the secure messages being received). They lost the secure message and have no record of it. Which is so weird because where would it go if I submitted it online?? I’ve called dozens of times and everyone claims they’ll help and it gets lost. I have submitted the additional information again and it’s been 45 days with no update. They might have lost or ignored it again. I keep going back to square one. It’s incredibly frustrating that this keeps happening. I know they have records of my emails and calls but every email or call, no one knows what is happening or can’t find it. IMG, please just do right by your customers. UPDATE: ratings and reviews claimed they reached out to someone over email. I never heard from anyone. And ratings and reviews has not responded to my follow up email after one month."
"Never by this insurance. I bought it for my in laws, then when I took them for an emergency to ER, IMG never paid, all claims denied. Even though I paid extra to buy the coverage for Acute onset of pre existing construction, they simply deny with the reason as pre existing even if the condition never existed for them earlier. Though I also submitted appeal, it never processed, just pushing for nearly last six months with no valid reason. So please stay away with IMG Global Insurance. There is no zero rating hence leaving one star."
"They are basically fraud, don't choose them. Here is how IMG makes profit without breaking a sweat: 1. Charge insurance fee from customer, free money. 2. Whenever customers submit a claim, automatically decline it in the system with no explanations. Wish customer don't bother to call and pay the full amount. 3. If customers are willing to make a call? Make the steps as complicated as possible, then make them wait in long queue. How about making the wait line 1 hour and don't provide call-back service? I bet not many people would wait, right? 4. If they are willing to wait? Easy, redirect them to customer service staffs who don't even know about the insurance policy, give them conflicting answers, make blank promises or ask them to mail the appeal request. Whatever it takes to make customer hang up. Once they hang up? Never follow up. 5. If customers are willing to call back or make appeal through mail? Stay silence, make no responses, just wait as long as possible, let's see who gonna get exhausted first. 6. If customers follow up again and again for 10 months? Well, now need to use the last solution: Reply them with an "review letter" cited an unknown MD's peer review, called all the medical issues were due to the "Pre-existing condition" thus not eligible for coverage. Because why not? It's the easiest way to avoid responsibility and hardest way for patient to prove themselves, because as long as you are not 100% perfectly healthy person, anything can be due to pre-existing condition, right? Now guess how many people among all their customers are willing to go through these processes without guarantee they will succeed at end? I don't know the answer, but I bet their actuary's model shows them it's few enough to make it a very lucrative business. This is basically what I went through: My mom-in-law visited us from another country last year, during the stay she caught an unknown virus that caused acute liver failure which required immediate treatment in the ER. She was perfectly normal before and after. Matter of fact, she has physical exam results both before and after visiting us showed she didn't have any chronicle liver disease. But apparently IMG didn't think so, so I had to go through the entire process above with them, but even as of today, it's still not solved. Dealing acute medical condition of our parent was already stressful, the whole back and forth with IMG insurance made it an even worse nightmare. These greedy medical corporates think they can game the system to make money on the expense of the patient and their family, they are betting their complicated appealing process to scare people off. But you know what? Screw that, I'll fight my last tooth to make it right."
