The Family Learning Institute

The Family Learning Institute, located at 1954 South Industrial Highway in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free tutoring services to low-income students in the Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti areas. Volunteers are needed to work with students in grades 2-5, focusing on reading skills. One-hour sessions take place once a week throughout the school year, with additional opportunities to work with small groups on various academic topics. All volunteers working with youth must undergo an annual background check. Training sessions for tutors are held several times a year.

In addition to the in-person tutoring program, the Family Learning Institute offers summer Playground Programs in collaboration with Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation, aimed at preventing summer learning loss.
