UMich English Language Institute 500 Church Street, Ann Arbor, MI 48109

The UMich English Language Institute, located at 500 Church Street in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is an academic department within the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts at the University of Michigan. The institute offers a variety of English for Academic Purposes graduate courses and language support services for international students, scholars, researchers, staff, and post-docs at the university.

In addition to academic English courses, the ELI also provides language and pedagogy courses for international Graduate Student Instructors (GSIs) and TESOL courses for those interested in teaching English locally or abroad. The institute's resources are exclusively available to current members of the University of Michigan community and do not offer language instruction or conditional admission to the university.

The ELI offers Academic English courses and workshops for international graduate students, as well as Graduate Language Clinics for one-on-one language and academic support. Non-credit courses and resources are also available for international Scholars, Researchers, Faculty, Staff, and Post-Docs to enhance their English language skills and professional contributions during their time at the university.

Undergraduate students can benefit from Academic English courses and workshops, as well as one-on-one speaking and writing support in the Speaking and Writing Studios. ELI faculty advisors are on hand to assist U-M students in selecting appropriate courses and language resources.
