Reviews of Wolverine Dermatology
"i have been a patient at this place and have left two messages to schedule an appointment but it has been almost two weeks and I have not gotten any response. A big hassle trying to get ahold of someone there."
"The facility is well organized and the staff is friendly. I had Kurt Vanderveen assist me with cyst's removal. He was very informative and professional, while treating me like a real person. I would definitely recommend this office."
"Wolverine Dermatology is an amazing place for all skin concerns. They value their patients and go above and beyond to care for their needs. Dr. Freeland is very personable and truly gets to know his patients. The WD team is very kind and attentive to any and all concerns. I would highly recommend wolverine dermatology!"
"I will say that the staff at the front are super friendly and the office is beautiful. I had went in to get some of my skin tags removed as they were causing me some discomfort. The nurse and doctor had made me feel like I was inconveniencing them as “it’s not as bad as a lot of other people that come in to get them removed.” The nurse who was removing them told me that usually people just clip them off with nail clippers…. Which was off putting as I was paying quite a bit of money to be seen and I came to a sterile environment to get them removed as that is what you go to the dermatologist for. I then showed the doctor a rash I started to develop on my hands that I was worried out. She told me it was probably just some friction from my ring and shouldn’t be anything. A month went by and the rash that was developing on my hand started to develop blisters and it became extremely uncomfortable. I looked online and looked at the comparison of my hand and determined it was probably eczema. Now I know you shouldn't Google symptoms and I am not a doctor by any means so I made another appointment as I trusted my doctor had my best interest at heart. my appointment was maybe 3 minutes long. She barely looked at my hand and had determined it was a fungal infection as I work with animals. I was shocked but trusted the doctor as I would have done anything to make the discomfort stop. She gave me some oral medication and told me fungal cream wouldn’t help this. I did everything this doctor had told me and two weeks went by and my hand was even worse. I had decided to try out some fungal cream to see if it would help since I only had medication for 2 weeks. The fungal cream worked so well! Made me stop itching and made the blisters go away. 2 weeks later my hand started to get bad again. I called the office and was told that there was nothing that they could do for me other than stop working with animals…..that is my career. Knowing this I got a second opinion with a different dermatology clinic in Grand Rapids. They made me an appointment right away and saw me for over an hour. They listened to me and took samples and found out I had eczema the whole time. I was given a steroid cream that helped me super fast. I felt heard, finally the discomfort I had had for over 2 months was finally beginning to go away. My eczema hasn’t returned. What I have learned from this experience is that I won’t be back to this office. I needed a doctor to help me instead of not listen to me and make me feel like I was a problem."
"When I first started going to this practice I saw Dr. Brown. Dr. Brown was a really great guy with the perfect personality for a physician. On my second yearly visit I was informed that Dr. Brown was no longer there and that I would be see Dr. Freeland. And interesting experience but it was okay. I wasn’t terribly pleased about losing Dr. Brown so I asked why he was no longer there because it seemed odd that after only a couple of years he would leave. I was told that he moved closer to family. An acceptable answer I guess. And now to get to the meat of the story. Back in December of 2022 I had a suspicious spot on my back that was itching like crazy so I called and got an appointment right away. Dr. Freeland took one look at the spot and told me I had shingles. He called in a prescription to my pharmacy and I was off. Well after several weeks the spot and the itch had not gone away so I called and got an appointment with my PC physician. He looked at the spot and the surrounding area and diagnosed the condition as eczema. So I treated the area per his instructions. A few weeks pass and the spot is still there. At this point I called a dermatologist that I had been going to prior to going to Wolverine and got an appointment a few weeks out for my yearly full body review. I have had multiple basal cell locations in the past several years. I pointed out the spot to the doctor and he immediately said “if I was a betting man that is basal cell.” So the normal biopsy of the spot was taken. Ten days later the result of the biopsy came back as positive for basal cell and I now have a date set for surgery to remove the spot and the surrounding area. I am writing this review so that you all are informed and can make your own decision."
