Reviews of Institute for Social Research
"I would not recommend anyone to work with their HRS project. They promote former data collection folks as managers with zero leadership skills, zero emotional intelligence and zero competence. It’s likely none of them have ever led anything in their lives, let alone a team of 400 people. They use extreme micro management measures and call it “following protocol.” They speak with contempt to new field interviewers and think grown adults are going to tolerate that behavior. And, they do not exercise tact or diplomacy. Probably have no idea what that it is. Let me clarify the “they” whom I speak of….the screening production manager from the Bronx, (as if that means anything to me but that’s what she says) and her minions. The pay is extremely low for the work and especially for the constant barrage of emails, calls and meetings. I love research but not so much to be berated by anyone. Another issue for me is that they are extremely top heavy. There are entirely too many people to answer to. Working with them and spending about 10 days in Grand Rapids, MI for training was a complete waste of time. So many people left during training and now I see why (the compensation just isn’t worth the labor or the petulance). On a positive note, the study is a phenomenal one to work on minus the screening manager/TLs, the catered food was good, the main baseline production mgrs were great and most of the team leaders were very nice. The training itself was well organized. However, most of those days of verbatim reading could’ve been conducted over Zoom. Perhaps 3-4 days of in person training for the certification would’ve been sensible instead of 10 days."
"It was a very clean building"
"Not much going on here right now. I am with a contractor and we're working here today."
