"Worst veterinary experience ever. We took our 8 week old kittens in for a first checkup and shots and it took over two hours and a $390 on a two for one price. The vet was on a lunch when our appointment time was 3pm? It was only him and a office girl he was training. He poked one kitten so hard, it screamed in pain, and it took the girl 20 minutes to figure out our bill! And we were the only ones there! I wish I could give them a negative star."
"Dr. Swartz really cares about my little Maltese. He actually called me to check on him after his visit when he was sick with a UTI. Nancy and the rest of the staff are great too!!!!"
"took our bearded dragon here because they could get us in sooner than our normal vet. i’ll never do it again tbh. to start, the vet handled my beardie extremely roughly. flipping upside down and holding him like that for minutes when they can’t breathe upside down. we went there because we thought our beardie was egg bound. all he did the whole time was talk about husbandry. he told us to get different lights and somehow that was supposed to fix the hard belly and lack of energy. even the vet tech said she felt something in the belly and said “it’s a good thing the x ray machine is up because we will likely have to get x rays.” instead we were told to bring back a fecal sample and paid $100. brought the sample back only to be told it’s gonna be another $80 to run it!! what was the $100 for?!?! to talk about husbandry?? that i could’ve googled??? some of the advice was iffy as well, being told to use tums in place of norma reptile calcium powder, don’t use uvb lights and instead get a heat and uvb bulb. on top of that, he said you should never hold your beardie ever. never touch them. never handle them. never let them run around. if they touch anything throw it out. like hello?? i understand washing your hands after handling them but never handling them ever because “they’re gross”??? i was in awe honestly. to top it all off, he somehow managed to be transphobic??? somehow the topic of people who use they/them pronouns came up and he commented on how ridiculous that is. how nobody is going to call people that. the funniest part is IM TRANS lmaoooooo. he just didn’t know that. it’s crazy what people will say when they don’t know who’s listening. either way, now i’m out $100 and i have to pay more to take him to our normal vet because the stomach has gotten harder and i’m not returning here ever."
"Dr Schwartz and his team really go above and beyond for their pets and pet parents. Today I had to say goodbye to my bearded dragon, and they truly helped me cope through my sadness. Dr Schwartz let me take my time and ask any possible questions I had. The vet techs were also very understanding and helped me more than I ever could have imagined. I felt silly for balling my eyes out over a lizard but they understood how I was feeling and reassured me I wasn’t alone. I could never thank them enough. Whenever I need a vet in the future, for a cat, dog, bearded dragon, whatever pet it may be, I will 100% bring my babies to Clarkston Veterinary Clinic."
"We've taken our animals to Dr. Schwartz for 10 plus years, and simply put...he's fantastic. He treated our recently passed 13 year-old chihuahua for his entire life. Two years ago, he diagnosed him with early stage congesitve heart failure and was 100% spot on with the cardiologist's secondary opinion upon referral. He prepared us for how the process would go and was compassionate, yet honest with us. It truly made a difference in how we cared for our dog and helped in making end of life decisions. He also called after the dog's passing to personally express his condolences and reassured us that we had been excellent parents to our pet. Most importantly, he treated our animal with utmost care and kindness. Those complaining about costs should consider that caring for a pet is a financial commitment that is not for everyone. In our experience, we would often discuss the clinical value of a prescription or a lab test versus the cost and in many cases Dr. Schwartz would choose NOT to take that avenue. I've never sensed a desire for profit as a reason for any clinical decision he's made. We've always taken his recommendations for food, treats or medical needs as trusted suggestions, not a sales opportunity. Lastly, the staff is always courteous and friendly. You get a sense that they feel like we, and our pets, are part of the family. I guess the strongest indicator of my belief in the practice is that our happy and healthy new 4 month old chihuahua puppy is one of Dr. Schwartz's newest patients!"
