"I have been a patient of Dr. Shein for almost 20 years. She is an excellent doctor who always takes her time with you. She is up to date on the latest treatments options and has looked for many the different ways to treat me effectively. I would not go anywhere else-she really listens to all of my concerns!"
"Dr Peterson had been one of the most patient and thorough doctors I have ever had. She does not rush through appointments, but takes her time to really listen. I also appreciate that she is open to alternative options."
"I have been seeing Dr. Peterson since last November, she had an eeg done, diagnosed me with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy. I have a ton of other symptoms unrelated to the epilepsy and I feel as though she has no concern for them and seems as though she does not want to have further tests done. I am going to see a different nuerologist . She told me that I needed to see a counselor instead of having other tests done. Further more, every time she sees me she completely forgets everything I told her in previous appointments and counterdicts herself. Pay $30 each time and gets nowhere. I have symptoms that fall inline with MS and so my husband brought it up and her reply was, oh no you do not have that deathly disease, you should be thankful you do not have that. How can she be so sure if she hasn't had any test to prove I don't have ms?"
"If I could give this less than one star, I would. Nilar committed patient abandonedment against me without so much as a phone call. I had to call myself and after many times finally getting through to a nurse that told me. I was on medication that I needed a refill on that only she prescribed me and when she did the abandoning, I was out of luck and became physically ill. The office is extremely informal and unprofessional from the aquariums take up half of the waiting room with accompanied smell to the tiny offices that have you sit in basically a lawn chair. They have one nurse to deal with calls regarding doctor questions and prescription refills and the wait time to hear back is exponentially longer than any office I've been to. I could go on and on. The best thing I got out of that relationship was a referall to an actual specialist early on. It really is unfortunate that this is the only neurology clinic in the area. Hopefully bellin brings one in soon. My advice: Do not waste your time and money here. Time is limited when it comes to health. See an actual specialist as soon as you can because conditions only go down hill. Look up a doctor's reviews on multiple websites before you see them. You'll see that nilar has terrible ones across the board. This is the only medical care I've ever complained about but it deserves it."
"Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere, even if you have to go out of town. Dr. Peterson missed a diagnosis that 3 other doctors and a surgeon confirmed. Terri the receptionist gives out medical advice without consulting doctor, and the office is not patient friendly. I originally saw Dr. Peterson for another opinion. She said she saw no indication of the condition (cervical dystonia) I have--even though 3 other doctors and a surgeon had all diagnosed me with it. She suggested it was due to a viral infection but gave no additional information, nor did she suggest any possible treatments. I started going to Dickinson Neurology Associates as my main neurologist, and this time I requested Dr. Shein. They stuck me with Peterson again. 10 days before the appointment I sent in my paperwork, and they called me saying even though I have other insurance they can't see me because my injury was covered by workman's compensation, and they don't take that. Ok fine. I said I have several other problems, one being pain in my leg. WITHOUT SPEAKING TO THE DOCTOR, the receptionist Terri said leg pain can be caused by a neck sprain work injury (WHAT?!?), so we still can't see you. I was infuriated. I have had my work injury for 7 years and my leg pain just started. This was very unprofessional and I decided I wanted nothing to do with this practice. It is Feb 10 and I have been waiting since November. Now I have to start all over again! Unfortunately this is the only neurologist within 100 miles. There was one other but the doctor retired. Dickinson Neurology Associates requires a referral from your P.C. doctor. My doctor sent the referral but DNA claimed they did not have it. My doctor told me DNA does not like ANYONE to call (not even the doctors office) to check on the status. They want you to wait for them to call you. After 3 weeks went by I called and they had no referral. Took another 3 weeks before I was scheduled, and my appointment was 6 weeks after that."
