"I graduated in 2018 at Churchill. Mrs. Wilson was a great counselor and most of the counseling staff was friendly at the school, but the teachers did almost nothing to stop even outright harassment (some teachers even targeted and harassed students, including me ex. Heckling me every day when I didn't stand up for the pledge). In my ~3 years of time spent there I had to write up several bullying reports because teachers did nothing to stop harassment even when I would tell them about it multiple times. As a trans person I know I am more susceptible to targeted harassment, but one of my teachers told me to just ignore a group of students in her class because they were ignorant. She then proceeded to do nothing to stop them from further harassing me other than telling them to stop and giving them a warning. When they proceeded to mock and demean me for the entire semester she didn't go further with any disciplinary action. On multiple occasions teachers ignored me if I was having a panic attack or refused to let me go to the counseling office if I felt like one was about to occur, even though I had an 'Anytime Pass' signed by my counselors for when a situation like that happened. They really need better training on how to help students with panic disorder so incidents like these don't occur again. Not all of my teachers at this school were like this, but the fact that this happened so frequently is extremely concerning."
"This school is like a 2.5. Half of the students are rude and just care about looks and money. The other half are actually nice and empathetic people. Half of the teachers are excellent teachers. The other half just do nothing and don't really teach anything or help the student when they need help. There are certain classes that teach you a lot that you can use in life and are fun to experience."
"We came from private schools and were not sure of what to expect from public education. We have been VERY HAPPY with the committed quality teachers at CHS. The administration also supports the balance of caring and enforcing appropriate limits with the students and parents. The other positive is the diversity at CHS. It is well balanced with diversity of educational interests, race and economics which they seem to use to the advantage of the students. We live in the Stevenson area and will definitely send our younger children to Churchill!!"
"Great School.... My son has been with Livonia Public Schools since he went blind almost 6 years ago. Their V.I. program is amazing. I really like Churchill, some of the Teachers that I've encountered there are great!( the ones that work closely with my son) His IEP is always on track, with his goals being met every year. This year he also has to focus on what to do after high school. He's done amazing since being in Livonia Public Schools. They work very closely with him at Churchill, and he always gets the help he needs. He's in regular classes with some modifications to his work. He enjoys his Teachers, and ParaPro's alot. I would recommend Churchill High School to anyone."
"Currently attend this school- the teachers are friendly and welcoming, and so is the rest of the staff. However, the school itself is terrible. The floors never get cleaned, I don't know how often the janitors consider actually cleaning the bathrooms, and the school is often described as a 'prison' for it's blank white walls (which are terrible for a learning environment, by the way) and it's block-like set-up. There have been many fights at the school that I have witnessed, and I've only attended for two years. Perhaps the money used for the football team could be used in places of education- redecorating, enforcing proper cleaning of the school itself, proper school supplies (such as calculators and spare textbooks), etc. Overall, this school is not the best. Especially when you compare it to schools like Northville (not because of the funding- because of the cleanliness of the building, and the overall attitude of the staff to motivate the students)."
