Reviews of Vibra Hospital of Southeastern Michigan - DMC Campus
"Please take the time to read this. My brother was a victim of a house fire and suffered severe smoke inhalation injuries. He was in a burn ICU for three weeks before being transferred to Vibra DMC for continued therapy. He is on a vent, but P.T. had been working with him in the ICU and he had made so much progress that the day before he entered into Vibra DMC, he was literally able to take a few steps in his hospital room in ICU and sit up in a chair and watch tv. The following is just a very small excerpt of the absolute medical nightmare that he suffered during his nine day stay at Vibra DMC. On the 23rd of October, while visiting my brother, I was told by the nurse and R.T. that when he wakes up, he becomes very agitated, and due to that agitation, his heart rate and blood pressure would elevate, and his respiratory status would be uneven, and his oxygen saturation level would decrease. I was verbally told by the nurse and the respiratory therapist that if he was sedated with Fentanyl, Propofol, and Ativan via his IV his vital signs and oxygen saturation level were fine. My brother did wake up occasionally and when he woke up, he appeared to be in severe pain. Still, also, he was very emaciated looking from approximately the week prior when I saw him. I shared my concerns with the charge nurse, the respiratory therapist, and his nurse, that I felt something was not right, but I did not know quite what it was at that time. The nursing supervisor, said she would contact my brother’s intensivist Dr. Hazimeh, and have him give me a call. I started at 12 noon asking for my brother to be sent to the ER for evaluation. I went back to see my brother at 4:30 pm because I was so concerned over how he looked and I still had not received a phone call by the time I went back up to see my brother. Bottom line, at 7:30 pm that evening (still no call from the doctor), I was contacted by the director of nursing of Vibra and was told "Dr. Hazimeh has denied your request to send your brother to the ER because his vital signs are stable". I was also told that if I wanted my brother transferred, I would have to sign him out AMA and provide transportation. Again, my brother was borderline unresponsive and on a ventilator. I left that facility feeling like my brother was being held hostage. The next morning I found out that Vibra did send my brother to the ER the night I had asked him to be sent, but he did not get sent until 10:43 pm. On top of everything else, not one person at Vibra bothered to contact any family member to let them know my brother was being transferred. So again, my brother was alone in the ER, unable to speak, and severely ill without any family with him. He was readmitted to an ICU and was diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs, severely low oxygen level in his body, dehydrated, and had double pneumonia, and a bed sore. Bottom line, if you have a love one that has to go to this facility, please make sure you visit them often, and don't hesitate to speak up if you have concerns about any of their medical care. I have advocated and brought all of what has happened to administration, and administration at the Vibra headquarters, because I do not want any other patient or family member to ever experience any thing close to what transpired for my brother."
"DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!! Did I say…….DO NOT GO HERE? If you care about your loved one you will not take them here. My mom spent 27 days there. She was making some (very little) progress when they gave her a combination of medicine she was not suppose to have. They found her unresponsive which caused her to go backwards in her progress. Then we were told she had to leave which was a blessing. We were there a lot because mom was scared. She couldn’t speak or walk at that time. They couldn’t get us out of there quick enough. They didn’t like us watching them. And mom (a nurse herself) would keep notes when we weren’t there. I will say there were a handful that cared but for the most part the rest were just there. Mom said they were mean to her at night. Accused her of spitting on the floor. I feel sorry for the people there with no voice and no family checking in on them."
"Just watched a family friend spend a month there and be treated worse than an animal. She was left to lay with little to no assistance wasting away. Would sit for hours with no help and I didn’t think she would ever make it out of there outside of a body bag. She went home as a last resort because anything was better than the treatment she was receiving there….ended up having an infection. Went to a real hospital and then to another rehab center and has made more progress in 2 days than she did in a month at VIBRA. I wouldn’t send a feral dog for treatment at this facility. If you have a choice to send someone you love there….don’t."
"Do NOT send your loved ones here. They have a candida epidemic on floor 7 and they are not telling you before you transfer. This will limit where your family can go afterwards. It’s a deadly virus and seems very illegal that they would not be up front. They lied to us and told us she would be going to PT on the lower floor. The nurses do not change or clean them like they are supposed to and are very rude and unhelpful. I multiple times came in with my grandma covered in her own mess hanging half off the bed. This rash could be deadly for her. I will forever regret choosing this place. I don’t know how they can live with themselves lying to families like this."
"I've been a patient here at Vibra (DMC campus) for a little over a week and I must say the staff has been amazing, courtesy, and professional. Though there were a few hiccups in the beginning the amazing staff has been quick to resolve those issues. The facility is clean , bright and welcoming. I would feel comfortable leaving my loved one in their care. I'd like to make a special shout out to the patient ambassador Elesha for always make sure me stay here is comfortable, her as well as Tajah, Keisha ,Shawna and Ron for going above and beyond! Lastly, I'd also like to mention the lovely night nurse I had on my first day to arrive, who was kind enough to buy me dinner when she heard I hadn't ate. Unfortunately I don't remember her name. ***Nurse Waymanette"
