"Unlike other schools, this one is easy to get in any program. However, I hope you have the money for the time. I honestly believe certain instructors here pick and choose who they favor to pass. The nursing program for one is a program I am in. They cannot fail you on quizzes and exams however on skills check offs and the skills final it’s their word against yours. Megan is the fundamentals instructor and she is a smart nurse however she lacks compassion and care for others. You can tell being a nurse to her means just having that title. Michella is the Pharm I instructor and she was very helpful and wants you to pass. Michella would ask us all the time to review quizzes and exams to see our weak areas. Denise Gardner is the program director, and runs this program terribly. Not supportive of students. The school has a lot of resources which is a plus. If you have the money, you can try, but they will bleed your financial aid. It will not be a easy first semester with this school."
"The school is very up to date and clean. They also have a lunch area that serves hot food. Very compliant with COVID. On behalf of a program, I was in the nursing program. I was always a straight A and B student until I applied here. The program is very fast paced to be only a ADN. They also try to cram in knowing basic nursing skills instead of requiring a CNA class. You will go through so much stress and agony. They recommend not working in which I did and relied on support. We did study groups also which they also recommended. They want you to teach yourself half of the material. The point system for the program is terrible. We were all passing barely until we got to the skills final which they select your two skills and you have to be perfect doing them or they will dock you so many points to the point you fail. You will do so much work, clinicals, check off of skills and get to the end to be nit picked over a simple skill. Also, if you have issues going on in life do not vent or disclose anything to them because I honestly think their judgment of you at the end effects your points during skills final. The skills final is a point final that they observe you do. No feedback or nothing. So you cannot defend your skills final until it’s to late and grades are submitted. If you have the money and patience go for it, but definitely not worth my mental health."
"The basketball game was exciting. Go Red Hawks!"
"Lake Michigan College trail is a nice trail that can either start behind the athletic field or start behind the back of the Mendel Ctr. It takes you in the pines and oaks along a winding little path with small stream waterways and to a place that takes you away from the hustle and bustle of college life. Enjoy the cleared paths and if you get tired take a break on one of the wooden benches. It's a public trail, free parking, I think it is dog friendly, and nature friendly as we saw and heard many birds. Go out and explore and happy trails."
"Its the cheapest college in the area and you get what you paid for. The staff in the financial aid, business and student advisory are some of the most incompetent people you will ever meet. Time and time again they ask for documents because they lose them every semester. Several times I had to straighten out financial issues after the geniuses had assured me it wouldn't be an issue, then the idiots deny it. The housing director for the dorms is exceedingly callous and cold, if you have a personal issue with your housing or you want to leave early because a job - she wont care. Prepare to have an apathetic housing staff give you the run around, not mean what they say and then deny it if you bring it up, same with all the staff. If I wasnt borderline homeless I would have never come here. Ask any student the competency level of this barely functioning organization and you'll get the same answers. The teachers are decent, every thing else is a big heap of stinking garbage that can care less about you, and their actions reciprocate that. Enter at own risk."
