"Dave did such a good job easing my son's nerves while taking his test. I would totally recommend having Dave as a testing instructor for young drivers!"
"I just brought my 3rd child to E-Z Way for her test and we had excellent service and a really nice examiner again. Highly recommend!"
"Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience today. I’m not saying that it’s the company at fault but the “instructor” was incredibly unprofessional. I cannot even put into words how unprofessional the entire experience was. As soon as we arrived, he asked for jumper cables because he was listening to music & his car died.. which okay, things happen. After that, he was on his phone & in & out of his personal car during the testing. His phone was ringing & he was taking personal calls the entire time, even while he was reading me the instructions. I wasn’t given clear instructions & then he told me I needed to study more & reschedule because I pulled forward too many times? As I stated before, I wasn’t given clear instructions on anything. It was a waste of time. I will be rescheduling but I am hoping to get another instructor who actually does the job he’s paid to do. It was completely unprofessional and a horrible look for the company. My mother in law was with me & we were honestly floored at how unprofessional he was."
"It’s difficult to know how things will play out with a kid that has severe anxiety, and whose stress level soars in situations where “testing” is involved. My son is 20 and only took session 1 of drivers training back when he was 16, opting not to take session 2 and was just satisfied to drive with a parent/older sibling until now. Ultimately, he chose to finally take the plunge and take the test now that he got his own car. Again, he has been driving these past 4 years, with either a parent/older sibling. He is a good driver, and a cautious and conscientious driver. Parallel parking however, is not his forte, and he was failed within 10 minutes of arriving yesterday. I was watching, never saw him hit a cone, and he was within the lines (but apparently “there was still space” and the instructor having to “wave him on” was points – which my son felt was not clearly explained before-hand). Despite whatever the State’s parking guide and scoring is, it makes no sense that there is so much weight put on parking. It’s absurd. Parallel parking is not a requirement in daily life. There are other parking options, and it can be completely avoided by those who are uncomfortable performing that type of parking. That said, I also do think it depends on the instructor. I have 4 other kids, all older, and a couple of them struggled with the parking as well and did rather poorly, but still made it past that and on to the road test. This son though, requires patience, and clear and direct instructions, so I’m not at all impressed with the instructor (who was “cash only”, oddly). But that was surely the easiest $65 he ever made in 10 minutes. What is that, about $6.50 per minute? Pretty lucrative gig. And the cherry on top: now the fee has jumped to $72 UPDATE: Despite your standard unconstructive disclaimer that “the testing has been this way since the 90’s” and that “the examiners read verbatim from an instruction sheet provided by the State of Michigan…” etc., I can only respond with the fact that YOU aren’t present and DO NOT know what the instructor does/doesn’t say or do – or what is/isn’t understood by the subject. I stand by my initial review of that first instructor, and would suggest that – as with any and all other occupations – there are clearly both bad and good. Definitely this is the case with your instructors/examiners, they are NO exception to that reality! Fortunately for my son, the 2nd examiner was MUCH better than the first. You can choose to take offense and hurl insults whenever your establishment is criticized, but that only exposes you as unprofessional, and it doesn’t change the facts: the first examiner did nothing beyond the blanket verbatim to try and make sure the instructions were clear & understood; however, the second examiner was 100% crystal clear on instructions. The results speak for themselves: from 6 points immediately the first time to 0 points the second time. What a difference it can make to just explain basic instructions to nervous, anxious, uncertain students! It’s pretty simple, some students need more explanation, and some have issues or needs that require more from the instructor. Perhaps you should take some responsibility regarding your standards for examiners instead of being outraged by authentic reviews of these experiences? I hope parents with student drivers who have special needs, anxiety, depression, or other issues will hereby be forewarned: EZ Way is a business, and the student drivers are just another deposit to them. Thankful to be done with this establishment once and for all."
"My daughter had the worst experience. Don't understand how she failed the parking when she was in the lines and didn't hit the cones. 65 bucks down the drain, and another 65 to retake the test. Update: The 2nd instructor was better then the last one. She actually took out the time to explain her mistakes to her. So I guess it depends on the instructor"
