"Went on a sushi date. I ordered 4 rolls they all were good"
"We went in and ordered carryout yesterday. Once we got home and I finally started eating, the food was not good at all. The rice was quite dry. The meat was dry also and the steak had a funny taste to it. I only ate the little piece I tasted. I fixed a plate of the other food which consisted of chicken, shrimp and scallops and started eating but something was just not right so I threw it in the trash. The food was not good but I couldn't put my finger on why. Finally my husband said the steak didn't taste grilled. I said that's it. The food tasted as if it was not hibachi cooked and I'm sure it wasn't. The food was not fresh and it tasted more like it was Chinese food versus Japanese food and it gave my husband diarrhea. I have nothing against Chinese food, however I paid almost $100 and I don't prefer to spend that much money on Chinese food. I have ordered carryout Japanese food from there numerous times and have also sat on the other side and eaten Chinese food there and I know the difference between the two. We called and complained and was told the food was cooked in the back and was told to come back the next day and ask for Rachel. Of course when we went back today and asked for Rachel, they claimed she wasn't there and the whole story changed about compensation. I didn't want money back, I just wanted my food cooked on the hibachi grill as Japanese food usually is. I asked for another manager and they sent some man out from the back and he was quite rude and condescending. He caused my husband to become upset which is very hard to do, so we left. I called back and asked what that supposedly manager's name was and the lady that answered the phone said she didn't know his name although she was standing at the counter the entire time witnessing and waiting to push the button. I asked how can you not know the manager's name and she said they have five managers. I said I want to know the name of the one that came out a few minutes ago. She claim she didn't know so I asked her to ask the other lady that was working the register. She put me on hold and came back and said his name is Josh. I don't know if that's the truth or not but he needs to be fired and that restaurant needs new management and honesty."
"I am not one to ever leave a review but I have spent the night throwing up after eating takeout. I immediately didn’t feel well after eating tonight, this is the second time now I’ve got sick from this location. The first time we dined in and the cook was so rude because we didn’t want to upgrade a bunch of meals for young children and waste money for food they wouldn’t eat so he was extremely cold the entire time. Went home not feeling well but decided to give it another try thinking maybe it was something else but definitely not. I am so sick and would not recommend going in unless you want to be pressured on spending the most money and getting the cold shoulder if you don’t or getting violently sick."
"Love the vibe and food. The chef cooking right before your eyes is fun and interactive. Food is delicious. FYI, they do add a service charge on to your bill. That tip is split between the chef and your server. Follow @detroitfoodiefashionista on IG for more recommendations."
"(Update) I've been here plenty times at this point and the food is not as good and has consistently been too oily for my taste. I had been very curious about this restaurant for years. I have always driven by it but never found the time to step inside and see what it was about. This was my 1st time at a hibachi type restaurant and I was eager to see if it would live up to the hype. It was a great experience for the most part and the food being cooked in front of you was also a benefit. The staff sat our party almost immediately and we were given our drinks and ordered our food relatively quickly. There was quite a time before the actual food arrived to be cooked in front of us though and I do mean it was awhile. Our chef got to work almost immediately and he did mess up a few orders but it was only on a few vegetables. The chef corrected the orders and kept a mental note of people's allergies to peanuts and seafood. The plates here are around an average of $25 and so it can get pricey if you have quite a few people as you can see from the pics. That bill was for 4 entrees and 2 appetizers. This is a definite must visit if you're in the area and wanted some Japanese/Chinese food."
