Tokyo Sushi 2240 Union Lake Road, Commerce Charter Township, MI 48382

"Sad, but there must be family dynamics and tenant-landlord issues underlying this fiasco. I feel compelled to post, as this place needs to close before someone gets really ill. Went in to order carryout dinner early Fall 2023. Finally convinced my elderly mother to let us order from a sushi restaurant and this is the only one in the area. Always concerned about freshness with sushi. First red flag when we arrived--entry door was propped wide open and it was 85 degrees inside. Went in and did not see anyone at first--no other guests. After a couple minutes, owner/chef/server/cashier emerged from the kitchen and said A/C was out and we could not eat in, but he was doing takeout (he should have just closed and turned off his sign). Apparently landlord is supposed to fix A/C. We debated leaving right then, but wait times were long other places (not sushi) nearby, so we went ahead and ordered spicy tuna rolls, California rolls and chicken teriyaki. Waited in restaurant for the food. No other guests came in. One order phoned in. After 25 min wait, he had our order ready. Took it home. Rolls were okay. Chicken teriyaki was just chicken and rice, almost no vegetables, but edible (a microwave meal would have been better). Needless to say, we WILL NEVER be back. This needs to close and I am certain would have multiple violations if inspected by health dept. I don't know if owner should move to a better landlord or just not be in the restaurant business."

"I ordered here on Christmas Eve. The Curry noodles were some of the best I ever had. The food was fresh and delicious and the service from the owner was even better. Definitely coming back here."

"Hands down the worst management service and food ceased to EXIST. The old owner guy is flat out just RUDE and the place is rundown DIRTY. The owner (I assume) treats his workers AND the customers like absolute garbage, it’s very unprofessional to be yelling about nothing infront of paying customers. It’s WORST seeing dead rat traps in the restaurant too, the health department needs to come to this location asap. An egotistic man may run this restaurant but it is INSANE to keep it running with rodents especially when the place is already dirty and unsanitary."

"Called to see when they close for carry out the guy on the phone said 9pm every day with a very stern and unfriendly tone you can tell he was annoyed by me calling and asking a simple question. Then I went on to say okay thanks I have a couple questions about menu items before I call back with an order. Mind you I called at 7:50pm with plans to call at 8pm an hour before they close. And he sighed and hung up. I was going to place a nice order for a last minute family gathering, but how could I feel comfortable having someone prepare my food that has a person answering the phone with terrible attitude like that? I could only imagine that the sushi chefs hate their life too. No thank you Tokyo sushi. You don’t treat respectable customers like that."

"Ordered lunch online and went to pick it up and nobody was there. The "open" sign was flashing and the lights on, but no signs of anyone. They called me over an hour later and said they were "late getting there" and asked if I still wanted my lunch. By that time, I had gone somewhere else so they said they would cancel the charge. Two days later my account was charged anyway, and I had to dispute it with the card company. If the food is even decent I'll never know because apparently they don't serve food there. I'm being forced to give them 1 star because 0 isn't an option."
