"Unfortunately, my experience today was awful. I love supporting black own small businesses and wanted to do that. That being said the food portions, quality, taste and flavor don't match the cost. Unfortunately, my review isn't to tear them apart but make them aware that the quality wasn't present and not to my liking. After spending $51 for 3 meals it could have used more flavor and love. We threw away $51 dollars in the trash, it was so disappointing. I can't say that I'll be back but, I hope they're listen to the constructive criticism."

"Absolutely delish! We split the 2 meat and 2 sides entree for $13.99. I got meatloaf and mac & cheese and my hubs got the smothered pork chop with cabbage. The Mac&Cheese was so good! The pork chop was a bit grissly/fatty, but it has amazing flavor from the light breading and gravy. The meatloaf was very good as well. I’m not a fan of cornbread that’s sweet -but no biggie, I ate it as dessert! I can’t wait to return and try more items!"

"Just a favorite place. Staff is personable, food is great. Really satisfies the cravings for someone like me who is from out of town. It has a “home away from home feel” - also plenty of veggie options if there are any non meat eaters in your party. The always have events featured on their screens and there’s a sweet potato French toast bake on Saturdays and Sundays before 10:30."

"The Candied Yam delightful southern cuisine is my new go to place for delicious home cooked southern food in Grand Rapids. Located on the south west side of town in a strip mall, it is a bit hard to find, but worth the effort! We tried multiple of the meats and sides, and we’re not disappointed in any of them. I personally really enjoyed the ribs."
