Dimitridon Studios Rock Shop

"Cute little shop, lots to look at, some items a little on the pricey side. However, I will not be returning in the future. I'm not sure if it was the owner or one of the staff, but whoever was working on the day of our visit made me and my family feel very unwelcome. I brought my kids because my daughter collects gems and crystals, so naturally, I thought this would be the perfect shop. She saw so many things she wanted and I would ask her how much is it, and she had to pick up many of the items to turn them over and check the sticker price on the bottom. My kids were then asked not to touch anything, and told if they did touch anything again, that we would be kicked out. So, they refrained as well as they could with being children, from touching anything more. They were just very excited and wanted to show me everything they saw. Most of which they just pointed out to me and hadn't even touched. So, despite my feelings about not wanting to give this shop any of my business, especially after how we were treated, I still let my kids each pick out a small gem to take home for their own collections. Once we finished our purchase, we were told, once again, to not touch anything on the way out. Needless to say, based on this being our first time experience here, we will not be repeat customers. Which is very unfortunate, because I felt it was a unique little shop."

"I have been here a handful of times in the last few months (from Indiana) and always see new additions each time. I greatly appreciate clearly marked pricing on or near each item and most had an identification writeup (e.g. stone/crystal - name/properties/meanings, skull - animal type, etc). The items are very reasonably priced, they have a wide variety (more than just raw/polished rocks), and business hours appear to be open later than other rock/crystal stores. Their staff has been at the ready to help with any questions and happily shared expedition stories. Depending how one looks at it, only possible drawbacks are: business suite has narrow aisles when busy (due to so much variety of inventory on display for purchase), no bathroom for customers (public restrooms are located southwest through alley ~3 minute walk), and the entrance has a few steps to get in. My boys and I were just there yesterday; the staff member who completed our transaction showed us that, unbenounced to us, some of the items we bought actually glowed under a UV flashlight! We also spoke with one of the co-owners and he eagerly shared with us a few recent finds from a peninsula (beautiful pieces) - we sure were awestruck! Whenever we visit South Haven (or passing through Michigan) we make sure we stop here - worth the trip."

"When I feel like pampering myself, or when I have difficult issues to solve, or when I feel sad, I get in my car and drive from Kalamazoo to South Haven. I go to this Rock Shop, where time seems to have stopped. There I feel a mental pause and solutions and ideas come to me. And of course, as a girl, I always take a beautiful stone with me to look at it and rejoice later at home. This time it was a wonderful rose quartz! I really like that the people who work in the store are always calm and friendly. It helps me to feel support on a human level. It is very important for me."
