Kroger 4526 West Western Avenue, South Bend, IN 46619

"The store was extremely busy with one checkout lane open and of course the self scans so I decided to use one of those. I had about $500+ in groceries and was in a hurry so I didn't feel like waiting in the line for an hour to check out because I had to go to work. Apparently I wasn't fast enough putting the items in the bag so the "help" had to keep coming and doing something to the touch screen and started getting frustrated with me and asked why I didn't use the regular checkout lane. I said because I didn't want to wait and she said it'd be about the same amount of time. I said maybe if you didn't have a bunch of people standing around doing nothing you could open a few lanes. That's when another employee felt the need to give me her two cents and tell me she just got off break so I said... Ok, THEN GO TO WORK! Where was the management? There was literally 4 people working the deli, 1 person checking people out and 4 people standing around doing nothing but getting frustrated at customers for the store being busy. I ended up walking out because I refuse to be treated like an idiot for not knowing how to do the job that they've been trained/get paid to do. Never again will I be going to this ghetto location."

"Where is the management in this place? 6pm on a Sunday evening, no check out open and 4 self scans open. Self scan attendant was very stressed. Do better kroger. Just cause you are placed in the ghetto, doesn't mean this store needs to he ghetto and unorganized. Shelves are rarely stocked. I usually see workers, but just walking around doing nothing. Get it together. We will take our business elsewhere."

"Been coming here since I was a kid...with my mom. Here today with my beautiful mother. Lol. How the years just flew by. But seriously I always came to this store as I grew up. Nice and close to home. Store is always nice and clean, everything is good and organized. I've always thought Kroger had some of the best hamburger meat. And that is what I got today....a couple of angus hamburgers. Looks like I'll be having a good dinner. Thanks you guys! Keep up the good work!"

"4 stars because I have only ever had great customer service here at this location which is a bit surprising due to it being in "the ghetto" aka the west side of South Bend. The store itself is perfectly fine, clean, well-lit, well stocked, and they've been making a push these past months (as of Feb 2017) to push and promote and -most crucially- actually stock and have local and organic/non-gmo, healthy and REAL food. But other than its sketchy location it's a completely normal and acceptable store with everything you'd expect from a national chain store, including a gas station + mini convenient store setup right off the road facing Western Ave/SR 2."
