Reviews of Gilden Woods Holland
"The tours need to feel more inviting more personal, if I’m going to leave my child somewhere, I need to feel like they are friendly and open and feel some kind of a connection. My tour was very rushed. She only walked me through the little hallways Pointed to each room and told me what they were and age groups and some activities that they did that was it nothing more nothing less. My tour was about maybe 10 minutes or less at the end she just handed me her card and said if I had any questions I could call or email her. For as much as I would be paying a week, I would expect more out of the tour. After receiving the feedback email there was about 5 different subjects my “tour guide” didn’t cover!"
"Amazing staff. Everyone is so nice, caring and provides an educational environment for our daughter. She loves it here!"
"We have been sending our child to Gilden Woods for two years now. We have experienced their staffing issues, COVID protocol, and changing in hands. Even when my husband and my employment situation changed and we looked around at a more conveniently located child care program, we kept coming back to Gilden Woods. No other program along the lakeshore holds a candle to them, and believe me, we toured many of them. Their excellent communication, including in times of difficult circumstances (like being short staffed) made it easy for my husband and I to make plans ahead of time. They have also been fantastic about communicating new policies and procedures with ample time to adjust. Jamie and Melody are warm and knowledgeable faces of the program who are always happy to answer questions. They also have a great communication system with parents with notes about my child’s diaper changes, eating habits, and what they learned that day. The team is all so kind and obviously love children. Even when my son is dropped off in tears (as toddlers are won’t to do), they greet him with smiles and open arms, eager to turn his attitude around. Their curriculum is also amazing, and my kiddo is much further ahead than his cousins at the same age. We now drive out of the way to send our son here, and he loves coming and spending time with all of his friends and teachers. Child care is expensive no matter where you go, but at Gilden Woods I know I am getting the value for my money, and knowing my child is safe, secure, and having a great time."
"My daughter currently goes here. Gildenwoods’ is currently having staffing problems at this time and are having to close rooms by age groups for a day at a time. This will be the third time my daughter’s room has been closed due to shortages. Luckily, she doesn’t go on Tuesdays so I have childcare planned but as a parent who relies fully on daycare to provide childcare while I and my husband work this has been stressful and anxiety inducing and a huge strain on our work days off. As a teacher I only get two personal days and 5 sick days total. If you are considering Gildenwoods just be aware this is an ongoing problem The facilities are generally kept very clean. My child gets changed regularly and is happy with food options. Most of the staff has been great and the online Apple grams are awesome along with camera access to check on my kiddo. They have some great activities and curriculum too. I know some activities are delayed or cancelled right now that they would normally do due to COVID but I am glad they are using masks. However, there are issues beyond the staff shortages. They have exposed my daughter to latex when she is allergic and it was documented in her file she has an allergy. Staff are suppose to wear masks at all times but I often drop her off to staff members not wearing their masks fully due to eating or drinking or talking across the room. As a k-12 teacher my mask only comes off when I am alone or outside. I really want the same level of safety care for my child who is too young to be vaccinated yet. Lastly, compared to other daycares my friends take their children to such as Kindercare, Lakeshore Learning Center, and Imagination Station, Gildenwoods prices went up again and they are the most expensive childcare compared to these others when discussing bills with other parents. So there are positive and there are negatives. Weigh them before choosing. Update 11/22/21: Today marks the fourth time I have had to stay home or find child care outside of Gildenwoods due to staffing shortages. Today I stayed home."
"We did not have a good experience here at all. Teachers and care givers were always screaming at kids. My son would cry every time I dropped him off and say he was scared of a certain teacher and that he didn’t want to go to the gym room. He also complained that they wouldn’t give him more food if he was hungry. When I brought up my concerns we were completely ignored. I called, emailed and asked for corporates number but couldn’t get an answer or simple response from anyone. A whole bunch of the staff got replaced one week as well and no one would tell us why. We pulled him out of there ASAP after this. he is at a new school now and has never cried or fought me to go. Not even once. And is now excited to go to school everyday. Clearly the problem was gilden and their unprofessional staff."
