Reviews of Mode's Bum Steer
"Great food and service. Atmosphere is straight out of 1980. Love it."
"The server was incredibly kind and accommodating which makes it hard to leave a bad review but the food was absolutely terrible. As expensive as everything is on the menu, I was expecting some quality but everything lacked flavor and was either under or over cooked. Started my meal with rotten ketchup (which we weren't compensated for besides offering a new plate) and warm coleslaw. Prime rib dip: no flavor, up charge for mushrooms and onions and the au jus has zero flavor. Steak sandwich: flavorless and the mushrooms were cold. Burgers had no flavor (not even salt and pepper and it's a steak place...) and they were over cooked. Besides the taste of the food...most of our meal was heated behind the bar (including the burgers) and not a single person washed their hands or wore gloves after serving drinks and doing other things around the rest of the restaurant. We ate because we were starving but getting a $150 bill for a meal that didn't serve a single good bite is pretty frustrating. Actually, I can say, the appetizers were good, polish sausage and motz sticks but still not worth what they charge. This restaurant is absolutely living off of its old reputation. I wouldn't reccomend to a single person."
"First thing is they have one handicap spot for an entire parking lot. I am fully disabled and have a large walker We walked inside after fighting with the 2-in lip at the door open. The door and three waitresses are looking right at us talking to each other but did not acknowledge us for a minute If you notice they have cheap almost computer desk chairs with rollers and fold out tables this is in no way a high-end steakhouse restaurant It looks more like a Coney Island that is serving $50 steaks Just a cheap looking place and not to mention that no handicapped accessible areas at all really should call the ADA on them Also, I noticed that the tables are so close together that when somebody's walking by your table, they're rear end or front end is going to be leaning over your plate and over your table. And I'm sorry that's not the kind of pepper that I want in my food Somebody's butt pepper then I realized that there is no way in hell That I'm going to get my walker in through this restaurant to even sit down and eat because it is not handicap friendly There were maybe 12 inches of clearance between these tables. There was no way I'm getting a walker that's almost 2 ft across anywhere in the building. I almost couldn't even leave because it was so crowded and not with people Do not go to this place if you're disabled as you can't park and can't maneuver into the building to get to a seat due to overcrowding"
"The atmosphere and service were excellent. The food was pretty good, but was very expensive. Personally, I don't think $50 for a steak and potato is a good deal. Other than the place being pricey, it's a really nice place to go eat."
"My parents have raved about this place for at least 2 decades and I finally got to go myself. Was not disappointed. The prime rib was amazing. You can cut it with a knife it's so tender. I also got the Steak and Mushroom soup... delicious. Everything was cooked spot on and we gorged. It's very pricy, but the prime rib was worth it. It's a simple, old-school dive with a trendy crowd."
