"They do not have rooms available for patient care or privacy. Privacy should be a number one priority and it is non exsistant at Sparrow hospital. They have people piled up in the emergency room just sitting on too of each other. You feel worse leaving than you did before you came. There is not a doctor in sight jus PA's. They do not follo up with your care or explain anuthing they juat discharge you. Just a complete disaster and representation of good health care. This never used to be the case. There is no structure or organizatikn at all. The staff is overwhelmed and burnt out. You can tell by how they treat patients and it is not their fault. They are working under horrible conditions. Who ever is in charge needs to tighten up and do better because this is unacceptable!"
"They just discharged my grandfather who was sent to the er by his primary doctor with fear of a heart attack The staff reused to check anything to do with his heart, and even told us that they are under no obligation to check or take any requests or orders from patients. They work under their doctors and their networks and will do what they want. So my the fixated on his kidney stones that he was not sent in for, and did not check anything to do with his heart. He has a history of heart problems and has three stints. I guess we now just get to hope that he is ok and is not having a heart attack like his primary doctor fears."
"Although most of the staff I dealt with were kind… that place is ran like a madhouse! I just moved here almost a year ago from Georgia… and having different experiences in different states at different hospitals I can see where some their priorities are and it’s not the patients. The wait times are absurd I get hospitals get busy but lord, they gotta do better. I noticed some patients in much worse condition then I and they were left untreated for awhile and then just playing musical rooms with everyone having us switch from one place to another. I don’t know, I never had an experience quite like my last at any other hospital Ive been to. I would rather travel to Okemos. I think I’m going to try and avoid going here unless absolutely necessary."
"Wonderful experience in the Sparrow ER. The nurses are amazing, the EMTs are wonderful and very caring. Does it take a long time when you go to the ER? You bet, but this is the only ER in the city and they serve so many people with limited capacity. If you aren’t happy with the hospital, blame the administration, not the hardworking healthcare staff."
"To start off, I understand hospitals do what they can to take in patients, especially when space is limited. However, that is all the credit I will give them here. My partner was admitted, barely conscious after vomiting a considerable amount of blood. I was not allowed to go in with him. After hours of waiting, I was allowed in to the waiting room. They were so busy people were lined up and down the hallways in recliners. When he was finally seated, they put an IV in. Rather, they tried to. A female nurse named Noah called him a crybaby while she was injecting morphine into him. I am still enraged and in absolute disbelief that you would say that to someone while giving them morphine for what was CLEARLY excruciating pain. Shame on you. He wasn't even given any water through his IV. The only water he had that day he vomited up. He could have died."
