Reviews of Super 8 by Wyndham Bridgeview of Mackinaw City
"Check in time is super late. The breakfast was one granola bar. No other food options. The only reason I booked this hotel was that it was pet friendly and had a breakfast. The pool made my daughters skin break out in a rash, so beware of that. The room smelled weird, and when you slept on the bed, you also smelled like stale cigarette smoke. It's beautiful on the outside, but that is all that is positive."
"Great location...that's the best thing I can say. The front desk lady was not friendly at all. Her attitude was that I was bothering her while checking in. We were told there was a continental breakfast. Not true. There was no breakfast at all. We were told there was a hot tub and pool. The hot tub was broken (it had been out of order for a long time) and the pool was dirty. The pool deck looked like a graveyard for pool pieces and parts. At first glance, the room looked clean. We then realized there was some old fruit along the edges of the bed. Quite disgusting. The plug for the little coffee maker had the grounding wire broken off so that it would fit into the two-prong outlet. If the coffee maker shifted out there is no safety feature. Finally, none of the outer doors had any locks on them. At any other motel we've ever stayed at, the outer doors locked. After hours it was necessary to use a room key for entry into the motel corridors. This place needs better management, staff, maintenance and safety features."
"PLEASE READ! BEWARE! I wish that I could leave this hotel 0. We checked in on a Friday after a very long drive and within 10 minutes we knew this hotel would not work. The room was disgustingly dirty, dead bugs were all over the walls, spiders with their webs in the corners, carpet, and beds were filthy and looked as if they haven’t been properly cleaned in 30 years. The ceiling in the bathroom was bowed in as if it was about to collapse and the room smelled horrible of mold and mildew. Our youngest son is allergic to mold so my husband immediately got our kids back in the car and started reloading our suitcases and I went to front desk to let them know the state of their room and that we would not be able to stay. I want to start this by saying that I did not go in with a bad attitude I went in and began explaining to the woman behind the counter why we couldn’t stay in their room and needed to cancel. Immediately a man came from around the corner and said “Nope, nope, nope there’s nothing we can do, no refunds it’s our policy.” I politely tried to explain to him how bad the room was but was continuously interrupted, I asked for a manager and he informed me that he was the general manager so I asked to read their policy and I couldn’t believe my eyes it is hardly a policy and more like someone on a power trip came up with a way to still make guest pay for a hotel room that they know is completely unacceptable. This “manager” was so rude and showed no remorse for the state of this hotel that he is running. I cut my losses and ate the almost $500 for this disgusting room and ended up booking a room at a cleaner hotel. I do plan on contacting corporate to let them know what is going on at this hotel and hopefully something is done."
"This is the second time I stayed at this hotel. The first time was last summer and then last weekend. Upon checking in this time, I asked if I could have the same room (201) as I did last year because the view you have of the lake and bridge and because it’s a corner room. Ashley who was working at the reception immediately accommodated me so thank you for that! :) I had my wife with me this year and when we walked in the room she loved it! She liked how it was decorated and spacious enough for two people. She had zero complaints about the room or hotel overall and both of us agreed we will return for another stay. The only negative comment I have is the hotel advertises that they have breakfast included which they do not. They serve coffee and granola bars and that’s it. I heard two other guests complaining about this as well. If the hotel removed the “breakfast included” from their advertising, they wouldn’t frustrate so many guests."
"Room was clean though either their bedding or procedures need updating. Our king bed did not have a fitted sheet, only a flat barely tucked in at the edges and the top sheet and blanket were too short. Despite other reviews calling staff rude, I found them to be polite and helpful. They weren't "Midwest chatty" but they definitely weren't rude. The lake view from second floor is minimal because of the hotel and houses across the road on the beach and the balcony overlooks the parking lot."
