Reviews of Liggett TV
"I've had 3 appointments set up with them. The first appointment was rescheduled because the repair man called in sick. Ok no big deal. The second appointment was rescheduled because the repair man got behind. Again no big deal. But it's now the 3rd appointment. And no one showed up. I tried calling and calling. Even called the repair man cell phone and nothing. Needless to say. I'm going to be taking my business elsewhere."
"Bought a used Dryer from them last year still works great. The sub zero weather took out my washer, heading there today to purchase a washer"
"Very helpful. Bought a fridge somewhere else, and they were still willing to service it. Couldn't fix the problem because of the newer technology but were honest and helped us find someone who could. 5 stars."
"Good store to work with. Always there when I needed them."
"Liggett's will have a different version of this story, but since neither of us have a record my version (the customer's) is as good as any. My wife and I paid $200 for a used washer around May of this year. Liggett's delivered and it worked for about two weeks before breaking - no problem as they promptly replaced it with another used washer with an additional $100 for a total of $300 all in. The washer worked for approx. 3 weeks, at which point we called the repair person who proved hard to reach. We had several back-and-forths during which I needed to cancel a repair appointment for a meeting at work, and he also backed out of a planned repair I believe. By this time it was July and we were coming up on a vacation, and so decided that we would let the issue lie over the summer. The rest of the summer was very busy and we decided to just wash clothes at my grandparents next door until around mid-October when we attempted to have them repair the unit again (not even expecting it to be free this time). When we had no luck getting them to come out, we had another repair service in town come out and look at the unit. When the new repairman pulled the unit apart, he found several missing and/or broken pieces in the unit which we had not been aware of, and suggested we try to get our money back. When we learned of this we called Liggett's promptly and managed to get their repairman back out to the house. He had numerous reasons why we shouldn't be surprised that the washer didn't work, including the fact that "open agitator washers just never work" (then why did you sell it to me?!) and "Your wife just had to have that open agitator" (sure - blaming the customer's wife - classic rapport building strategy). He said that he need a few days to sort through his inventory of parts and see if he could fix it, otherwise, he would swap us out for a new unit yet again. Two days passed and he said that he couldn't find the parts (this now being November 5th) but that he would give us another used washer. Two weeks later - still no washer. Two days before Thanksgiving, my wife said enough's enough and that I should call them to get our money back. I left a total of 5 messages both on the repair person's phone and with his boss, with no returned calls (the repair guy has my number on caller ID, so the only reasonable conclusion I come to is that he is screening my calls). When I asked his boss if I could just resolve the problem directly with management, his reply was "the repairman has a different story on all of this than you do. He says you weren't available. Liggett's won't give you your money back because the repairman runs the used appliance business as his own side-job. Why did you buy used, anyway?" 1. If you care about customers in a small town, there is only ONE right version of the story. Namely, that Liggett's has $300 of my money and I have a washer that broke well within the 30 return period. The fact that I only found out that it was broken beyond repair in October is of no consequence, in my opinion. 2. If a customer isn't available, you KEEP calling until he is. 3. If Liggett's isn't responsible for the used equipment they sell, don't give me a receipt that says "Liggett's" on it. If your repairman doesn't have his own receipts, I suggest he gets some. Also, I find it difficult to believe that Liggett's as a business received none of my $300 and that it was pure profit for their repairman. 4. "Why did you buy used?" Is this even a question? I bought used because I thought I was getting a better deal. Do you mean to suggest that I should expect used equipment I paid $300 for not to work and for you not to make it right? 5. Waiting several months before contacting someone about a repair is acceptable if you expect to pay for the repair, as I did. Bottom line, I am out $300, plus $80 in a service fee from the other appliance store in order to find out that it was broken. Update: Upgraded from 1 to 2 stars. No refund, but they replaced the washer and the new one works fine. Seth Rodden"
