"Home Depot has a disturbing and unfair policy that I recently experienced. Knowing this I will hesitate to make any purchases at the chain store. We purchased many items from the store for a home project. At the end of the project, while we were still in the return period, I took the unused item to the store to return. Even though I presented the credit card that I had used to purchase the itesm, the store only offered 'store credit' and did not offer any explanation other than stating the 'system does not allow it!' I accepted the credit as I thought we will use the money for other purchases. The same day I purchased an item using the store credit. When I went back to return that item, the store refused the return. I was handed a cash register slip (which I have shared here) with a phone number. When I asked the store manager he was not able to provide any explanation other than saying we use a third party for return verification! Essentially, Home Depot refuses to accept an item that I purchased with the store credit that they had issued the way before!"
