Gallant Farm

Gallant Farm, located at 2150 Buttermilk Hill Road in Delaware, Ohio, is a park that offers visitors a glimpse into life on a Depression-era farm. The farm includes a farmhouse with period furnishings, a historic barn, a granary, machine shed, barnyard, demonstration crop fields, vegetable garden, orchard, and pond. Visitors can interact with costumed interpreters as they go about their daily chores, such as plowing fields, tending the garden, and cooking on a wood-burning stove.

The farm was purchased in 2003 with funds from the CleanOhio Fund and offers a variety of programs and special events throughout the year. Visitors can learn about preserving produce, making sausage, preparing the garden for planting, and cooking on a wood stove. Special events include Maple Syrup Time, an Antique Tractor Show, Music under the Paper Moon, and Winter Evening on the Farm.

The park also features a trail that winds around the pond and through the demonstration crop fields, offering visitors a closer look at farm life in the 1930s and 1940s. The farm is home to a family of Tunis sheep, and visitors can explore the barn, machine shed, garden shed, and granary. The park also includes prairies, a creek, forested areas, wetlands, and meadows, making it a popular destination for nature lovers.

Gallant Farm aims to transport visitors back in time and inspire outdoor exploration and learning. The mission of the institution is to protect and conserve the natural and historic features of Delaware County, while the vision is to inspire care for nature and community for a sustainable future.
