"Medical malpractice is a leading cause of death ranking in at #3 with approximately 250,000 who have lost their life. I highly advise remembering that statistic before making your decision of where to go for your emergency care. If the problem is that they are understaffed and/or undertrained, then they should not be allowed to operate. My own experience aside, the other reviews really tell it all. It seems the only care they give is to take advantage of vulnerable people who are in an emergency situation."
"Incredibly disappointed with this ER. I don’t know if there is a major staffing issue or if this is a labor cost issue, but this has been a completely unacceptable visit. Very few people seem to be working, very little is being done, communication has been nearly zero. Please do not ask me to follow up with the patient advocate. There are plenty of poor reviews, many citing the same issues repeatedly. McLaren hospital has plenty of reviews to be able to determine what the issues are already."
"I have been misdiagnosed by providers in this ER multiple times, just to go to a different hospital a day later to be told that something serious was actually going on (in which I thought). Go to this place if you want to spend your time in the waiting room instead of in a room. Go to this place if you want to be put in a room only to be forgotten about for hours, not one time a provider will check on you. Then when you do call the nurse they either don't respond, or say they will help and don't come for hours. It took 3.5 hrs just to get a new bag of fluid. I've given this ER enough chances that unless I am taken there via ambulance I won't be choosing to go back. At least at the old location people were put in rooms. I don't know how it's appropriate to place patients in a waiting room and call that adequate and HIPAA compliant medical care. Edit: No point in calling patient experience when that staff acts just as rude and dismissive."
"I’m in the ER currently, I have a hole in my foot the size of a nickel from a metal object piercing it. I have been sitting here with my wound open to the air for one and a half hours with no medical staff attempting to express any urgency to get it cleaned or wrapped in a sterile way. I did not see my nurse for an hour and a half since my arrival. When I asked my nurse Nichole if there was any concern with my open wound not being sterilely controlled for over an hour and a half she looked at me blankly . Then she said you can stop yelling at me and talk to your doctor. Mind you I did not yell once and was speaking in a calm manner, I was simply expressing my concern with the situation. I don’t understand how an ED misses coaching on empathy and rather treats you like you’re not allowed to ask questions or share any concern without feeling like you are a burden. I will say one positive was Dr. Gardner, she showed empathy and was very kind and listened to my feedback. She is top notch and made the situation a positive one. However nurse Nichole needs coaching on how to treat patients with empathy and treat them with respect. I have managed an ED before and know for certain that this type of treatment is what leads to bad reviews such as the one already listed before mine."
