Commissioned by the Metropolitan Opera/Lincoln Center Theater New Works Program, The Highlands workshop offers a free public presentation of excerpts on March 23 at Music Hall’s Wilks Studio. The company seeks to fill 20 non-singing roles, with no stage experience necessary. Additionally, The Black Opera Project presents "Lalovavi," an Afrofuturist grand opera premiering at Cincinnati Music Hall on Juneteenth 2025.
From January to July, Cincinnati Opera offers a diverse menu of opera-inspired events to build community connections and provide inclusive ways to experience the art form. Attendees can also go behind the scenes of opera with a series of free conversations inspired by the 2024 Summer Festival.
The institution announces the election of officers for its board of trustees for the 2023-2024 fiscal year, as well as the addition of five trustees and two Cincinnati Opera Board Associates. Aspiring professional singers are invited to audition for chorus and mainstage roles for the 2024 Summer Festival this fall. The mainstage season includes new productions of Mozart's "Don Giovanni" and Verdi's "La Traviata," with performances running from June 23 to July 7.
