Reviews of American Dental
"I’d leave a review in the negatives, if I could. Fraudulent garbage, this company. Lackluster employees with an attitude problem - like talking to a high school girl! No employee knows which way is up. I scheduled an initial visit, was told my mouth looked great, much to my surprise, as I knew I had wisdom teeth that needed to be removed. Scheduled a follow up for fillings. Go in for my follow up. Doctor tells me that she can only do a cleaning that day because, in her exact quote, “We don’t have enough time because we double booked”. Proceeds to clean my teeth and as I’m on my way out they say, “Great news! We have an opening to do your cavities!” So, I sit my happy rear end down and proceed to get fillings from a disgruntled Dentist (that was moving as fast as possible to get out of there) of which give me trouble to this day, all while listening to her politics on why dental insurance is a scam. When I questioned why the male Dentist I initially saw told me my teeth didn’t need any work and she said the exact opposite, her response was, “I honestly don’t know how he could say that. But he’s my boss and I cannot talk badly about my boss.” They schedule a follow up for me and have you pre-pay for services. Still, I questioned nothing until an issue arose with the insurance company. I had to realign everything on the insurance side, that was on me, but the insurance company was scratching their heads on the payment situation telling me that I was paying too much and they had no business charging me the way they were, based off my insurance plan. I get a text 2 days before my appointment asking to confirm my appointment. This is followed by a phone call from an exhausted woman that explained they had to cancel because my claim was not paid. I call the insurance company again, who advised me not only had the claim been paid, but provided the check number as well. This was followed up by another text from American Dental telling me that they had recieved payment. I call back to reschedule my appointment and this same poor woman (man, I hope things get better for her) with a poor attitude urges that I understand that a text message from them is automated and doesn’t actually reflect the account. Puzzled, I call my insurance company. They tell me to proceed with caution. I wait for a couple weekend to be pawned off to the billing department, only to speak to another charismatic and charming young lady (you can sense my sarcasm), telling me that my $138 was collateral until my claim was paid. I explained they gave me a receipt showing my $138 was for my next appointment and also how inappropriate it is to use the word “collateral” in the medical profession. In short, these people provide abysmal service, partnered with high-school level attitude and grade school level professionalism. I wouldn’t recommend them to my worst enemy. My fight continues…"
"Awesome and professional service. Dentist and hygienist were awesome as well and very informative for my regular checkup."
"I am so happy to have chosen this dentistry. They are very professional, engaging, and patient with their patients. I had a hot tooth root canal, which is probably the worst surgery ever. I am so thankful to the team there."
"Dr. Max is the best dentist I've had. At my age, I have realized that going to the dentist will always create a level of anxiety within me, but at least I have found one who is worth it. Dr. Max is professional, skilled, and a perfectionist. Because of these attributes, all of the dental work I've received has been extraordinary -- no pain and no discomfort. I am glad I found him. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because of the office's appointment policies. They require a ridiculous deposit for appointments even after you have provided good insurance and after they have already filed the claim. Example, if you make an appointment for two weeks from now, they want the money NOW. Who pays for dental work or any medical procedure before it happens? And if you need to cancel/reschedule an appointment then you must do it 4 days in advance. 4 days? Who does that? So if you have an emergency and cancel an appointment the day before, WATCH OUT, they're going to keep your deposit and make you pay it again for your reschedule. Great dentist, horrible policies."
"I have had a couple appointments with American Dental Associates (Palos Heights) since March 2022. Initially, my experiences were positive. I've always experienced some anxiety for dental visits, but the staff was helpful and made me feel comfortable. I had some difficulty with my second appointment. The dentist I was seeing left the practice. I feel that I could have been given more notice of this so we could have worked together to set up the next appointment sooner. Instead, it took weeks longer to get the appointment time slot that worked best with my schedule. At the time of my third appointment (May 2022) I found out that American Dental Associates no longer follows the CDC guidance for health care facilities (which dental offices are designated as). I left that appointment and won't return to any of their locations (since all locations follow the same mask optional guidance). It's unfortunate since the dentists and dental assistants for my appointments were very good and made for comfortable dental experiences."
