"Unethical billing practices. I was there for a routine cleaning in May. The hygienist recommended a panoramic X-ray, which I declined because I wanted to check with my insurance first (knowing that the dentist was out of network, I wasn’t sure this would be covered). One of the employees overheard the conversation and assured me that she checked and that my insurance would cover. I would not have agreed to proceed, had this not been the case. Now I am being billed $69 because the insurance only paid a portion of it. My insurance company says they would have paid the full amount, had the dentist not done panoramic and bite-wing X-rays in the same visit. I have made numerous attempts at discussing my concerns about the bill with the office manager, who has basically told me that it’s my responsibility as the patient to check with my insurance about what services they cover and that I consented to the x-rays so I am responsible for the bill… I’ve also requested to speak to the dentist/owner on more than one occasion regarding this unfortunate situation and have been told that they essentially don’t have time to talk to me because they are with patients, even though I too am a patient of theirs. It’s a very unfair situation."
