"I am a state insured patient. I was under the impression that my son had terrible teeth. My son went through 7 silver caps all with this dentist ON BABY TEETH. Everytime I asked what could be done to prevent it he would go through a chart and say that it was the frequency in which my son was eating that was the problem. He then got aggressive when i questioned it. My son brushes his teeth every night and day. I have strong opinions from several other moms that Dr Eric Soper has done unnecessary treatments on baby teeth for patients insured with state insurance."
"I am honestly shocked that Dr Soper is still in practice after the traumatic events I witnessed with my own son who was 4 at the time and is now 12 myself. Dr Soper was not empathetic and if you need good bedside manner then he will not be for you. My son had a lot of work (looking back I know in my heart it was unnecessary) but I was young and naive and trusted him. When my son would cry going back alone I begged to go back with him but was told no, I told them it helped with his anxiety and was still told no. Honestly, I am not sure how he can go into work each day hearing and seeing the fear in those children. When I hear a child cry it pains me - that is empathy. Again he has NONE. This has been a complaint for many years with Soper. I could hear my child screaming from the back room and they told me to walk Outside because of my anxiety until the procedure was over. I was in tears. I will never forget how I felt and how scared my son was. I’ll never forgive myself for allowing him to go through what he did with Soper! And the sad part is that was actually the second horrific experience we had there but I just assumed and trusted him when he told what was normal… it wasn’t. We’ve since been going to union pediatrics, I now have 3 sons, and we have never, ever, had one bad experience. The kindness union pediatrics gives you is one of a kind. Please beware of Soper. Don’t traumatize your children. I’ll never forget what this man to not only my son but me."
"We saw Dr. Soper last week after we were referred by our family dentist. Our daughter is 4 years old and injured her front tooth last year-she injured that same tooth several more times and it began to become discolored-- this is when we were referred by our family dentist.... I had heard some "not so great" things about Soper (he likes to do unnecessary procedures, rude staff, you can't go back with your kids, etc...)- but decided that I would see for myself. While in the waiting room-- there was a boy-- maybe 10-- who was nervous to go back by himself-- the (I assume) hygienist said "you're old enough to go by yourself...." UHHH.... what? Anyway- we go back ( I was told I could since this was an initial evaluation).. Soper comes in and reports our daughter has 6 cavities and needs both of her front teeth pulled. She would need this done under general anesthesia or he said I we could. come back 4 separate times. Also- this could not be scheduled for two months...?? This was shocking to me (as our daughter has been to the dentist every 6 months since she was 1 year old...). We left and I decided to get a second opinion at Union Pediatric Dentistry. We saw them today. They informed me she has two cavities that need filled and does not need either of her front teeth pulled. She is getting her cavities filled TOMORROW. Truly, the entire experience at Union was great-- and I feel comfortable and confident in their recommendation. PLEASE- if your child is hesitant to go back by themselves and they make them- KNOW THAT THIS IS NOT NORMAL and every other pediatric dentist I know of around here will let you go back with your child. ALSO- If Soper is telling you that your child needs a seemingly excessive amount of work done- seek a second opinion."
"Eric Soper will not let you go back with your children which is a big red flag for suspicious behavior. I called a few other Pediatric Dentists who advised that we look elsewhere for treatment due to the concerns for child safety. Parents should not leave young children alone with strangers even if they have a degree behind their name. Children are the parents to protect. The other reviews that mirror this one are sadly true. Take your child somewhere else to be safe."
"Both of our kids go to Dr. Soper's office (ages 4 and 8) and have had a good experience. The waiting room is accommodating to little kids. They always have a movie on , have book or other things there for the kids to do to keep their mind off of things. I think all kids are nervous about going to the dentist the first time but in our case both kids went back by themselves and said they had fun. Not sure I could ever say that about my dentist. As far as service is concerned, no issues. We have had basic cleaning up until this point. My only complaint is Dr. Soper some times forgets that he is not speaking with a dental peer and frequently uses medical terms. That is on me though to stop and remind him to speak to the level of the audience. Otherwise good experience and I would recommend."
