"Highly recommend this shop!! I drove 320 miles, all the way from Indianapolis, to have the guys at German Auto Pros do a substantial amount of work on my 2012 VW Golf R. They did the timing service and fluid changes on the diffs, Haldex, and transmission. Also replaced the dampers and lower control arm bushings/ball joints as well as the fuel filter. In addition to the factory parts and regular service, I had them install a aftermarket intercooler and charge pipe kit and perform a carbon cleaning. It was enough work that I had to drop the car off for 2.5 days. I had been in conversation with Cary, the owner, for over a month before my appointment just working through all the details and figuring out exactly what I wanted them to do. He was super helpful and responded quickly to all of my questions, which was a big reason for me choosing his shop over a number of others I reached out to. Everything went smoothly with the appointment until they got to the intercooler and charge pipe installation. Unfortunately the kit I had ordered online didn’t work with the aftermarket intercooler, even though I had asked about fitment before buying it and was told it would work just fine. So that ended up delaying the completion of the work until the next business day (Monday) which was pretty inconvenient but absolutely no fault of the shop or the guys working on my car. Luckily, I was able to talk with Andy, the tech working on my Golf R, and we came up with a solution for it that used most of the aftermarket parts. So that was great. Honestly, I was a little concerned I wouldn’t be able to get the car back on Monday because of how much work was still remaining since the front of the car has to be disassembled for the intercooler install. But Andy and a couple of the other techs all jumped in and got it knocked out for me by the end of the day. The 300 mile drive back home went flawlessly too. The car was absolutely perfect. On top of that, I had asked the shop to return a few of the old parts to me that I wanted to keep and when I got home I saw they actually collected all of the old parts into a large box for me. Literally everything they removed was in there which was really cool. This gave me a chance to see what kind of wear and tear I had on the original parts. They also made sure I had an extra jug of coolant in case the cooling system burped some air and needed to be topped off. Heck I even had a broken belt on my front driver’s side tire unfortunately and the guys went ahead and swapped it to the back for me so it wouldn’t affect my steering or be as dangerous if I had a blowout on the drive home. I couldn’t be happier with the work they did all around. Even faced with a small crisis due to the parts fitment issues, the whole crew at German Auto Pros came through big time for me! Originally I got quotes from 8-9 shops for all this work and half of those places were less 30 miles from my home. German Auto Pros was actually one of the furthest away from me at almost 320 miles, but I couldn’t be more pleased that I chose them and I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. If you have a VW/Audi/BMW/Mercedes or other German import and you need to find a shop in the Midwest that’s trustworthy, highly competent and also extremely fair on labor costs, then I don’t think you can do better than German Auto Pros. I really mean that. This place is awesome and you can tell everyone there is a true German car enthusiast. Give them a call and you won’t be disappointed. Thanks again to the entire GAP gang!! "I drove from New York (4 hour trip) for service and would definitely come back! I got booked for a last min Saturday appointment with no issues. The staff were friendly and super knowledgeable when it came to my engine- the popular Audi 3.0 supercharged. The manager got me a killer deal on a Milltek exhaust! So I dropped by for a quick install and oil change. Since I was coming from New York, I spent the weekend exploring Cleveland which was a nice bonus! I'll be coming back next year for a more technical service (notorious PVC & water pump service) along with another weekend in Cleveland!"
