Marcum Nature Trail
About the Business
Marcum Nature Trail is a scenic park located in Oxford, Ohio, United States. This twenty-six acre institution is divided into two halves - one half consists of mature woodlands with access to Harker's Run Creek, while the other half showcases old-field succession. The circular trail offers hikers a chance to explore the beautiful woods. Access to the trail is available by reservation only.
The trail was made possible by generous donations from individuals like Paul and Edith Kramer, Dr. and Mrs. Roy Reinhart, and Dr. Joseph M. Bachelor. The trails span over six miles and offer various terrains for hikers to enjoy, including hills, valleys, and scenic overlooks.
The Timothy Marcum Memorial Center and Trail, created in loving memory of Tim Marcum, offers a unique hiking experience through steep slopes and flood plains. The Western Woods and College Woods provide additional opportunities for hiking through beautiful woodlands.
The Silvoor Biological Sanctuary, although small, is known for its abundance of spring wildflowers and wildlife. Activities at Marcum Nature Trail include hiking, snow skiing, and bird watching, making it a perfect destination for outdoor recreation, education, and research in the natural sciences.
Reviews
"Nice trail along the river. Came down from near the formal gardens parking on Labor Day, empty. Was a little steep going down. Played in the shallow water with the little one...trail is maintained and good surface of soft dirt and some gravel. Places to get to the water here and there."
