"Ate at Atwood for the first time tonight and had. Great experience. The food was delicious and the service was awesome. Shoutout to Bailey! The braised cabbage was to die for and the mussels were the best I’ve had. Thank you for a great meal! Can’t wait to come back!"
"January 16, 2024 This time they hit a 5 star rating! We had reservations at 6:15pm on Sunday and were seated right away. Our server, Grace, took very good care of us. We started with a gin drink called The Wasp. It was very unique and tasty. We would order it again for sure. This time we tried items on the menu that we didn't have the first time, and let me tell you, what everyone says about the Carolina Rice is spot on. The smokiness is perfect, the greens were cooked well, there was a lot of delicious crab, and the rice...oh my goodness it was the creamiest rice ever. Mixed all together is was perfect. The PEI mussels, although a smaller portion than you would get at other places and a little more expensive, had this fabulous smoked tomato broth on top of perfectly cooked polenta. Heaven on a plate it was! We also tried the Potato Mille-Feuille. It is a potato "log" made of thinly sliced layered potatoes with a bright herb topping. It would be really good ordered with the pork chop or fish. To start we ordered oysters again-four different types. All of them were great. Grace let us take the page from the menu to write notes about each type so we could remember for next time what we liked the best. If anyone asks us where we like to eat in OTR, Atwood would be high on our list. December 1, 2023 Let me start by saying that we dined on a Saturday evening just two weeks after they opened. We had reservations at 7pm. and were seated promptly by the friendly hostesses Faye and Emily. The interior is beautiful and the chairs were very cozy. The wine list has a variety of wines from different countries and we chose a Gruner Veltliner from Germany that was lovely. The menu is very small, and had a list of 6 different oysters and explanations of their taste. However, because the place is new, they are still learning about how to stock their oysters to have enough for a bustling crowd. They were out of 3/6 listed. BUT, Brandon the manager was gracious enough to offer two other types of oysters and comped us for those. They were very fresh and tasty. He was very personable and stopped by a few times to refill our wine. Our server Alex was also great and took good care of us. We ordered the paw paw bread because we have never heard of such a thing, and it was very good. It's a sweetbread with a delicious sorghum butter. The ham was served with capers, which it did not need because it was very salty to begin with. The bowl of local vegetables was very rustic, and included fennel, which I love, but some folks might not. For our mains we ordered the black grouper and the pork chop. I loved the pork chop and the way it was served with the madeira glaze and the different beans (and fennel in this too). It was cooked perfectly! However, the fish dish missed the mark. For $37 the serving size was very small. The puree was lovely and well-seasoned, but the piece of fish was so over-salted we only ate a few bites. Also, the creamed greens were mustard greens that night, and so undercooked they were inedible. Next time we go back, I'm hoping to give this place 5 stars, because it has the potential to be fabulous"
"Went with a group for NYE and was treated to the most delicious seafood in town! The variety raw oysters tasted so fresh and incredible. Some highlights from the menu included a lot of the breads in the snacks section, the crab rice was divine, the swordfish schnitzel was so savory and crispy, my favorite dish was probably the roasted oysters. Executive Chef Seth Ridgill is doing a fabulous job with this unique fine dining experience for the area, and I am so excited to come back!"
"Loved the Carolina rice dish. The smoke kale complemented everything. The squash with the monk fish—so good as well. Love this attention to detail. And the cranberry dessert was perfect as well. Lovely space!"
