"Terrible place. Me and my wife are looking for a place to rent for us and our 2 kids. Well me and my wife both have felony’s on our record and we got turned down from this place because of our felony. Does anyone not understand that felons deserve a place to live too?! I mean we served our time on probation, our felony wasn’t for nothing serious… I feel we are being treated unfairly and that’s not right just because of our background. We owned our home for 6 years, never been evicted, we pay our bills on time so what more can you ask for?! Felons are people too!!!"
"You all should have seen Silver Lake Park back in the '60's when we had a cottage (mobile home) permanently parked there. It was a beautiful place - All trailers had skirting, all lawns were cut, the entire park was immaculate. I worked for the owners back then as a Summer job in '67 and '68, cutting grass and picking up EVERY scrap of paper. It was never fancy, but always clean and safe. The beach was nice and clean, and the owners had a raft with a diving board in the deeper water off the beach. The roads were always in good shape, and if a pothole developed, the owners repaired it immediately before it swallowed vehicles.. There were basically 3 sections in the park. One area had full-time residents, one area had Summer and weekend residents, and one area was reserved for weekend campers. There were NO trailers or campers of any kind allowed down by the beach. This was a perfect place for all ages. I was a kid at the time doing lots of frog and turtle hunting and fishing. There were also many retired couples there year-round. I've driven through the park a few times in the last 10 years, and cannot believe the condition it has fallen in to. There seems to be evidence of an attempt to clean it up, based on a quick drive-by a few days ago, but it will never be how it used to be. I'm including a mid-'60's aerial postcard of the park. One more thing that I forgot to mention: ALL mobile homes had to be skirted - no exceptions. I added another shot, showing the beach area with it's yellow diving board raft. Note there are no trailers or campers or vehicles in the beach area. All the docks were towards the left in the photo. There have been several owners since about 1972, all promising to clean the place up. Let's hope this time they mean it."
"I had never heard of Silver Lake before this weekend and I am hooked! This is a beautiful, no-wake lake that is perfect for that easy pontoon ride or, better yet, kayak trip. Beautiful sand beach with roped off area for the kids. We were visiting relatives, but this looks like a wonderful place to live too."
"Nice view of the lake, lots of big shade trees, nice wide lanes but there's trash everywhere and the water smells bad of sulfer"
"Until the management that is in the office now. This place was about nothing but the almighty dollar. Now if U have financial problems they try to work with U to help U get things right again. I am thankful for them. I live on a limited income. The drive that goes to my trailer caused 3 flat tires with in a 3 week peroid. They said it was my problem & I still needed to keep up on my rent. There was holes in every wall in my trailer I got tired of waiting for them to fix so have lived with the problem. They have been charging me $50 every month for over 2 years for being late on my rent because I don't get paid until the 2nd week of the month. All due to the flat tires 6 months into my lease. So I will not sign another lease . The new management is working with me to catch up on my rent."
