Reviews of Hickory Dickory Tots
"I went here when I was little kid and now I work here as an adult. The best daycare out there. They have the best coworkers and owner. Owner has been there since I was in 3rd grade and I am almost 20 now."
"I like to give credit where credit is due. This center can be accommodating for some families, though equally unaccommodating to others... we cannot thank the pre k teacher Ms Rathi enough for how incredible she has been with my oldest and her friends. We are thankful for the friendships made over the 5 years we have stayed. There are a few other teachers who kept us there longer, in the baby rooms, (Ms. Dori, Ms. Terry,Ms. Dana, Ms. Emily, Ms. Cara) but unfortunately the "family business" environment eroded after covid and after the directors daughter left. The center continues to struggle with staffing post covid. HDT hasn't figured out the toddler room issues and it makes it not a safe place for my kids to continue. Teachers are encouraged to say your kids have eaten and had a great day, even if that isn't the case. Do not rely on the slip of paper sent home, talk to your kids. HDT is currently managed by a Toxic director with control issues. HDT is under staffed and has a high toddler room turn over(more than 6 teachers by July 2023). The staff that are there are undersupported and pinned against each other and the parents and it is causing bigger problems with behavior and potty training. They cut corners like putting your kid back in pullups against doctors orders more than once (and tried to hide it!) and replaced individual cups with single water fountains despite fairly consistent hand foot mouth exposure. They cyob by having parents sign accident reports they aren't properly documenting, that you don't get a copy of and that teachers have to have the reports double checked for certain parents... then they bombard you for a signature at pick up with no context as to what happened and no partnership for behavioral concerns. If your kid (or you) may be neurospicy or an ally or part of the LGBTQ+ this might not be a good fit, kids are forced into traditional gender normative environment and expressing oneself is suppressed. As far as the director is concerned, there are no issues with the center, only bad customers. "You're not like the other parents..." should have been my sign. Also, as a customer it is clear it isn't a great place to work, likely a contributing factor to the turnover. Check out employee reviews. Not a great feeling that the people in charge of your kids safety and development aren't being paid well enough for the very hard work they are being asked to perform when you are already paying nearly a whole mortgage payment for childcare per month already. The director is very defensive if you ask about things and they will point the blame anywhere they can, including oversharing personal health issues, accusing my kid of UTIs when really it was a staffing problem (supported by doctors notes) and identifying other kids/parents as the issue... then you meet the parents/kids at the park and get a lot more context than you had before and it isnt at all how things were portrayed to you. To further demonstrate the level of professionalism to expect from HDT: we stayed for my kids pre k graduation and that happened to be her last day at the center. They deleted us from the group ensuring I do not get to see the photos and or videos of my kids ceremony. This is an inconsistent application for families who have left the center, so I don't buy the "security reasons" defense. It was intended to make this feel personal. It isn't personal. Do better."
"They do not work well with special needs. They kicked out my child with no notice. She got hurt numerous times. Got lice and other parasites here. Dirty nasty place place.from this facility. Refused to work with her she was being tested. They also kept a very special blanket that can't be replaced. Steer clear of this day care!"
"My family absolutely loves HDT! Since day 1 the Director and Staff have been very friendly, helpful, respectful and knowledgeable. My daughter has never attended a daycare before and within the first month has already shown an extreme amount of positive development! I highly recommend!!"
"This place is amazing and the teachers and staff who work here or for those who used to work here were amazing and wonderful people. They took great care of me when I went there and they made sure that I had a great time even when I was having a bad day. In the summer time we had a lot of fun going on field trips every day and going to the Red's game. We also played a lot of games and went outside and had a lot of fun. I wish I hadn't moved because I knew that if I hadn't I would be there having the best time of my life."
