Reviews of YMCA Camp Kern
"My children have had an incredible experience at Camp Kern over the past few years. It's been a place of joy, growth, and countless cherished memories. While my son thoroughly enjoyed his time there, I must admit he was a bit disappointed not to see his favorite leader, Ethan, return this past year. Camp Kern has consistently provided a nurturing and fun environment for my kids. They've had the opportunity to explore the outdoors, make new friends, and engage in a wide range of exciting activities. From team-building exercises to adventurous hikes and creative camp games, the camp's diverse offerings have truly enriched their summers. The new counselors have been enthusiastic and caring, ensuring my children's safety and happiness. It's a testament to the camp's commitment to maintaining a high standard of care and mentorship. We're grateful for the overall positive atmosphere and unforgettable adventures that Camp Kern has provided for our family. We look forward to more summers filled with laughter and growth at this exceptional camp."
"My 7yo went to Camp Kern for the 1st time this summer. He was the 1st in the daily pick up camp. I've never seen him so happy and engaged. He got to do rock climbing, swimming, canoeing and more. They have GREAT lunch! Thank you to the amazing kitchen staff for feeding my boy well and giving good options and portions. We are considering enrolling for a 2nd week for this summer. I will definitely make sure my son returns every year! Amazing experience. A special thanks to Jodee in the kitchen for making my son feel at home his 1st day. Also thanks to the "Ethans" and Sean the director of operations for taking any concerns I had seriously. Best experience ever!!"
"Went there when I was in elementary and it's changed alot. Good to see the cabins and bath houses was still there that I stayed in and used."
"10/5 Stars I have been going here for 6 years now and I love it they are very social they have a lot of different cheers and songs they made and usually the first day the campers don't do the cheers but by the end of the week EVERYONE is doing the cheers. And they have a lot of activities to do with the campers for example, Rock Climbing, swimming, hiking, the big swing, arts & crafts, etc. They also have something they call The Big Game where all the counselors dress up as the theme for the week and they have different quest type things and the campers get to go around the camp gathering stuff and talking to other counselors that are dressed up and they have to do stuff for that counselor for example Harry Potter theme one counselor would dress up as Harry Potter and you would need to do a dance or play a game or make the counselor laugh as a cabin. So Camp Kern is a great place for kids and the counselors are always very hype and nice to each other and the campers."
"I’ve never felt more welcome at a camp before this amazing place! It’s all inclusive no one is turned away and there’s ZERO tolerance for bullying! Camp Kern does their best to accommodate everyone they can. They teach kids responsibility, respect, honesty, and how to be caring all while having one of the best weeks of summer that they can ever receive! I couldn’t ask for a better family than when I visit Kern. Sharing memories on the last day always brings tears to my eyes as I realize all the friendships I’ve made and memories that I’ll never forget. Camp Kern really is amazing!"
