"We often walk the beach. This was always a great public beach (Crane Creek State Park) when I was a child. Now that the Feds took it over, it's not used for swimming. Great place to find peace."
"Absolute must visit and walk for any birder, bird watcher or wildlife photographer. Every person I met while briefly there was very nice. The Refuge is well maintained and beautiful. Side note: Two other amazing places, that are not but minutes up the road (Magee Marsh & Black Swamp Bird Observatory). **By the Visitor center, the best public outhouses I've ever been too!***"
"It was nearly deserted while I was there taking photographs. 3 cars and the Border Patrol. It was very peaceful and the flowers were in full bloom everywhere. It was beautiful. The building was closed for the day. My dog and I had a very nice time. If your looking for a little solitude and want to enjoy nature's beauty, it's the place to be. There are walking trails and plenty of wildlife if you walk quietly."
"Whoever decided to make this a national refuge was clearly the right person for the job. This is the most beautiful place in Ohio. The only downside is when I came the flying insects on the trails became unbearable, even with repellent. Before you come make sure the drive is open for the day, because it's totally worth it and may be you only chance to get a real good look at the place. Some of the trails near the visitor's center are great, the ones deeper in the park have the insects. Despite all that, this is place is just amazing, come, you will have a good time."
"Decide to take the wildlife drive and if you can, I highly recommend it! Make sure you bring some binoculars & a camera because there's so much to see & many great sights for beautiful pictures! We seen so many different species of birds, swans, turtles, bald eagles, & more! Such a beautiful place to drive through too. Plan to go back soon to hike the trails next time!"
