Fort Miamis

Fort Miamis is a historic park and tourist attraction located at 600 Michigan Avenue in Maumee, Ohio, United States. This extraordinary Metropark consists of three sites: Fallen Timbers Battlefield, Fallen Timbers Monument, and Fort Miamis National Historic Site. These sites are connected through their significant roles in our nation's history.

The park sits on lands that were once ancestral homes to various Native American Tribes. Visitors can explore the 1.5 mile Northwest Territory Trail, which loops through wooded areas and over a ravine where the 1794 Battle of Fallen Timbers took place. Interpretive areas along the trail provide information about the conflict, and a planned visitors center will offer interpretive displays.

Fallen Timbers Battlefield Memorial Park features an impressive monument to the battle, while Fort Miamis played a role in both the Battle of Fallen Timbers and the War of 1812. The park is open for visitors to explore, with visible earthworks and an observation deck overlooking the site.

The park also offers opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts, with access to the Wabash Cannonball Trail and a kayak launch on the Maumee River. Visitors can learn about the diverse wildlife in the area, including mudbugs and jumping bristletails.

For information on programming and rentals at Fort Miamis, visitors can contact (419) 407-9700. Experience seven months of nature at Fallen Timbers Battlefield and discover the rich history and natural beauty of this unique Metropark.

"I love how well the earth works have been maintained. Tons of history on this site. And the view of the river is beautiful too!"

"Small overlooked historical park. A walkway leading to what would be a new staircase tower overlooking the earthworks and river view. As much as I liked it I feel it's missing something although I can't pin point it."

"I felt a profound sense of energy here. The historic signs help to give us a sense of what this land has seen, but as soon as you walk through the hills you will FEEL what I mean."

"Excellent place to put in a kayak or a paddle board. Not a lot of parking and certainly no room for a truck/trailer. They put in a break wall that is awesome for fishing or just sitting and talking in the scenery."

"It's an interesting Park. The land is very interesting because it's got a bunch of mini Hills so it's kind of cool to watch especially because the hills are all green grass. But it's tiny and I don't think there's much to do there unless there was something I just am not seeing. It's only worth going if you're passing it on the way to somewhere else"
