"Very nice hiking spot. Southern portion of the park has more technical trails and elevation. You can also cross over thr railroad bridge to get to both sides of the park"
"A beautiful place in the fall. Came here to mtn bike. Has pretty good trails. The one closest to lake (yellow blaze) is trickier than you'd think. Lots of steeps with roots and some impossible turns to hit the wood bridge. Like, you have to stop and walk it to the bridge. Impossible angle. Also, it's confusing making you think you can loop around the lake. The trail doesn't continue UNLESS you hope to walk your bike across the dam (don't!) or risk your life climbing the rocks to the train bridge (which you find out on the other side is private property). So, a nice place, but just know you have to stick to the trails on south side of lake."
"It was peaceful and well kept. Hiking the trails was enjoyable. Would've been a great place for a picnic."
"We stopped by Van Buren State Park. On our way home from Michigan. The park offered camping for families as well as horse camping. It was well-kept and maintained not quite as nice as some of the other state parks we have visited there is a small lake and picnic shelters. There is a large RV park right next-door, and a railroad track that runs right along the west end of the park."
"We camped in the equestrian side and being amongst horses was a fun twist for us humans. Took a couple of nice hikes, entertained family and met some great people. The hosts are fabulous. In the center of family campground, there is tetherball, corn hole and a play area. Volleyball is set up by check in. There is also ax throwing, disc golf and archery in the section of the park with the dump station. Directions to the dump station are exit campground and go left. Take a left at stop sign. Follow signs and take a right into park. Go past ax throwing and disc golf and follow road along perimeter of private campgrounds, which is on the right. The dump station is on left before the private campgrounds swimming pool. Dump station has water to rinse out black tank. Oh, I almost forgot! The campgrounds only sells bags of ice and wood. There is no store."
