Reviews of Daniel Drake Park
"★☆☆☆☆ Popularity ★★☆☆☆ Size/Location ★★★★☆ Terrain ★★★★☆ Scenery ★★★★☆ Accessibility ★★★☆☆ Amenities ★★★★★ Condition ★★★★☆ Safety Date visited: 09/15/2023 My visit to Daniel Drake Park, a location I had been eager to explore, was a delightful experience. Upon arrival, I found the park's parking situation to be quite interesting. The multiple small lots scattered throughout were only partially occupied, creating a unique and welcoming atmosphere. It quickly became apparent that this park is a favorite among the locals. I encountered several friendly dog walkers, and the cheerful laughter of children playing in the playgrounds. It was heartwarming to see the community come together to enjoy this outdoor haven. The park's thoughtful amenities contributed to its appeal. Benches were strategically placed, providing ideal spots to rest and soak in the natural surroundings. Convenient drinking fountains ensured that visitors could stay refreshed during their outdoor adventures. A shelter, complete with restrooms and a grill, offered a place to gather and enjoy a meal in the midst of nature. My exploration of Daniel Drake Park led me along a well-maintained, paved trail. While the path offered no shade, it was well-cared for. Along the way, I noticed an interesting feature—the trail seamlessly transitioned into a dirt path that ventured into a tranquil woodland area. This part of the park was a refreshing change, with the dense canopy of trees providing a much-needed respite from the sun's rays. Educational signs along the path, part of a "Describe Learning Course," added an element of discovery to my walk. Near the shelter, I came across a makeshift tennis court, and it occurred to me that it might be time to consider upgrading this area of the park to enhance the overall experience for visitors. However, the crowning jewel of Daniel Drake Park was the overlook area. From this vantage point, I was treated to breathtaking views of the majestic mountains in the distance. The sight was truly awe-inspiring and added a sense of grandeur to my visit. Overall, I would recommend Daniel Drake Park to anyone in the area. Its popularity among locals, combined with its thoughtful amenities and the natural beauty of the surroundings, make it a perfect destination for a day of outdoor exploration and relaxation."
"The park and Shelter are gorgeous but the city people who run the Park are VERY disorganized and unprofessional. The website says First come First served starting at 6am. Me and my family were planning a birthday party at the shelter and made sure to be at the park at 7am to make sure we could use the venue. The website DID NOT list the reservation for the venue and said it was available for the day for the past week. At 9am as my family and I were decorating for the party. 3Hours after the time and with No notice on the website STILL, a park employee came and told us to leave the spot because someone had already reserved it. He had no explanation for why there wasn't anything on the website and then pointed us to a different park area as a compromise. We looked it up and it Didn't even Have a shelter for us to use. I'm so extremely disappointed in the behavior and procedures of the park programmers and staff."
"A nice park for walking your pets. The park is located in Kennedy Heights, above Oakley, close to Red Bank Expressway, just up the hill from Seven Hills School. There are swings for kids and a few picnic areas."
"Great place to hang out with friends, family, and to have a family function too! Also has a good trail to go on too!"
"This is a very quiet park good for a stroll or for a brief play at the park. Given that is not super popular, you will have high chances of having the park to yourself. The park restrooms remain closed so you have to plan in advance is coming here with little ones. Swings were closed so we were limited to the gym area."
