"I went in with palpitations and shortness of breath. I told them (as well as my physician) that it started a couple weeks ago after I gave blood. My doctor sent me to the ER. I had rather strips with me from my portable home EKG. I have been an RN for 45 years. Everyone was very kind. They did labs, a CT scan of my chest , told me there was a 5mm lesion in my upper left lung. I went home on a 48 hour monitor. The next day, I pulled up my labs etc. from my ER visit. The lesion was in my RIGHT lung, not left. But even more disappointing is, despite having these symptoms start after giving blood, my hemoglobin had dropped to 10. It was 13.5 before I gave blood. Not one word of my anemia was mentioned to me in the ER. I found it own my own and also made note of the error of which lung the lesion was found in. My symptoms are very indicative of anemia. I have started myself on iron pills and will refrain from giving blood for a while. But if I wasn't a medical professional, it never would have been diagnosed."
