"Our sales person was outstanding!"

"I am highly disappointed with the customer service my 89-year-old grandmother recently received at your store. She has been a loyal customer for over twenty five years, and recently made a purchase from your clearance section. She bought the dress for me as a gift and understood it “was a final sale.” However, when she brought the dress home and I went to try it on we discovered the elastic in the dress was defective so that it cannot stretch and it was impossible to actually wear the dress. My grandmother took the dress back to the store to explain the unique situation and showed the sales associates the dress. She was told it could not be exchanged for another “final sale item” and she had to keep the defective dress that cannot be worn. Although, it was on the clearance sales rack it was still over $40.00 for a dress that cannot be worn (and this was not disclosed at the time of purchase). We completely understand your policies; however, I expect a higher level of standards of practice from Talbots that you would not be selling defective products and then refusing to make it right when it is brought to your attention. My grandmother is on a fixed income and the dress was a birthday gift. She intends to write your customer service department and cancel her long standing account with you. I sincerely hope you will do what is right so you do not lose three generations of customers (my grandmother, my mother, and myself), plus have this story told to all of our friends and family members, over a final sale clearance dress."

"Would like if Talbot's didn't have "catalog only" items. I would spend more money if the items were in the store. I don't bother with catalog ordering-- too much back and forth with wrong sizes and returns, etc."
