"Staff is super friendly and impeccably creatively dressed. If you ask, they will help you style an item and recommend different pieces if you are going to an event or in search of something to fill a specific need. The store’s curation is beautiful and very contemporary. There are lots of interesting, easily wearable pieces that my eye often doesn’t fall on right away because of how attractive the unusual/textural/sculptural stuff is. The result of the aesthetic mix inspires thinking differently about dressing and styling, even when I don’t pick anything up. Fair warning—some of the price tags are steep, but A) not all of them are that way, and B) higher cost per piece is often the nature of shopping for high quality pieces from small brands and emerging designers who do not have the scale and/or willingness to cut costs on sourcing materials, production processes, labor practices, craftsmanship, or thoughtful design. And you can always wait for a sale—there are very good deals on a lot of cool, niche, sometimes very high-end pieces. Nothing here comes from a 52-micro-season brand. Like its peer boutiques on Vine St (Continuum, TMBTITWI, Sloane), everything at Idlewild has careful thought and artistry behind it. Go, browse, be mindful and open-minded—the people who make up this business are that way themselves."

"I am a local. Sometimes I just like to pop in when I am walking the dog, etc. Sarah is so nice and knowledgeable, that we can converse about many designers, even if they don’t carry them. It is more about your personal style. I love the clothes and am free to try them on without pressure. And have also spent a few dollars. But the collection is wonderfully curated. "Absolutely my favorite place to shop. Incredibly curated clothing - unique, high quality, high fashion, somehow also incredibly comfortable!? The team is amazing and helpful. If you feel a little overwhelmed when you go in (as I do when I shop in general) just tell them - they'll give you as little or as much attention and assistance as you're up for. By shopping here over the last few years I've begun to create a truly beautiful wardrobe I love - having a mindfully filled closet keeps me from silly impulse buys I don't need or actually wear, which has been something I've struggled with in the past. 10/10 highly recommend Idlewild!"
