"I took my two dogs (schnoodle & chihuahua) to get groomed at B J’ Pampered pets several weeks ago. The service took MUCH longer than I was initially told it would which made planning around picking them up difficult. This may not be a major issue for some but I try to pick my dogs up as soon as possible since they are not used to being in cages. Anyway, the cuts were OKAY. I’ve had better but I’ve absolutely had much worse too. As it was my first time I was not to concerned figuring it may take a cut or two for them to learn my dogs and the style I like. I’m convinced they did not cut their nails either but decided I’d ask next time and then, if needed, pay extra for that service. Had my story ended here I would have given 3 or 4 stars BUT it doesn’t. A couple weeks later my schnoodle was scooting and seemed to have trouble passing stool. I started him on a probiotic for dogs, that did not help. I then took him to the vet. His anal glands were impacted. They obviously had not drained them during grooming. I take some blame for this because I did not expressly ask them to do it or if they had done it. However, I’ve owned dogs for 15 years and have used several groomers over that time. The groomers have ALWAYS drained anal glands as part of the service. I would have gladly paid extra if I’d known they do not do it as part of a standard groom. Anyway, this on top of the other things listed above has lead me to keep looking for a new groomer in the Lawrenceburg/Aurora area."
