"Dr. Kathy Platoni is a seasoned professional. She saved my life and provided me develop life skills with my recovery from my PTSD, guilt, shame, anxiety, depression and daily bouts of suicidal ideation. But what makes her so remarkable is her vast experience with PTSD in both identifying the disorder but the necessary treatment options. Her knowledge base also enhanced from her experienced at the Fort Hood Massacre as she was the primary target. She also expeienced monumental trauma from this horrible event. She also served on the frontlines in the Middle East fighting providing support and understanding to our service men and women during firefights. To me it’s what made her a dedicated advocate for mental health disorders, especially PTSD and her active advocation for those she serves. She will fight to ensure you receive any benefits you may deserve. I had worked nearly 20 years at the Dayton VA mostly with the PTSD Program, only to strongly suspect I myself had severe symptoms of PTSD for a Helicopter crash. But after seeking disability assistance services from the VA as well as the Montgomery County Services, I got nowhere or any advice or assistance. I had also sought assistance from the Mental Health Chief or my immediate supervisor. I instead sought legal assistance and was guided by them to seek a mental health assessment. I had asked around the VA Center as to who was the best PTSD therapist available in the Dayton area. Dr. Platoni’s name was always on the top of the lists. Dr. Platoni’s professional working knowledge of PTSD exceeded anything I observed at the Dayton VA. I honestly believe the Dayton VA Center sought to avoid her as a community therapist because she worked very hard to educate veterans with PTSD as well as advocate for them. I demanded the VA Center to refer me to her for an assessment. Dr. Platoni was extremely helpful because she personally understands the disorder and serves to assist veterans and others to cope with the daily PTSD symptoms. I sought legal assistance and was guided by them to seek a mental health assessment. In short, my first session with Dr. Platoni left me emotional that I finally found someone sincerely interested in helping me put my life back together again. My attorney also stated he had never seen such a well written diagnosis regarding PTSD in his many years. I sincerely recommend Dr. Platoni, it is very unlikely you will ever find any one in Ohio who could better serve you. I would even venture to say she is the best clinician you could find anywhere!"
