"It saddens me to write this review, but I think it’s important for other folks, especially young people, to know how my last appointment with Dr. Lin went. To preface, she had been my gynecologist for going on ~5 years. During that period of time, she was very kind and helpful with general care and birth control. If you only want to see her for the basics, you will likely be fine. This is why the rating is 3 stars and not lower. I have been interested in sterilization for some time, and I have been researching it for YEARS. I have not wanted children ever since I was a teenager, and I have known that I want to be sterilized for a long time. I figured that because Dr. Lin and I had rapport already and she had the sterilization I was seeking listed among her skills, I could inquire with her about it. I shared more details with her about my history of ideas around sterilization, And which method specifically I would want. Dr. Lin began to cite regret rates for folks my age (though I would still statistically be unlikely to regret because it is lowest for those without children prior to sterilization). I initially believed that this was pertinent to bring up for informed consent. I understand that it is required to tell people who are seeking sterilization. This was not the case. Without any clarifying questions to determine that this procedure would be right for me, leading me to feel immediately written off, she proceeded to tell me outright she would not be comfortable with performing the procedure until I was 27, because I still had much time to “change [my] mind.” Obviously I’m aware this could happen, but given that this is how I’ve always felt ever since I found out you could be sterilized, I feel it would be unlikely. Dr. Lin then stated that part of the reason she would not be comfortable performing a sterilization procedure on me is because she would feel horribly guilty if I ended up changing my mind down the line. To be clear, doctors should be able to make decisions about what they are or are not comfortable doing, of course. But this should not be due to an emotional over-investment or unduly affect the patient’s ability to make medical decisions. This really crossed the line for me, because it is not appropriate for a practitioner to involve their personal feelings about a patient’s decisions in whether or not the patient GETS to make that decision. It is also not appropriate to share those feelings with your patients. My doctor’s personal feelings about my safe and informed choice is not my business and not relevant. This is exactly why informed consent is so important, and why patients sign consent forms prior to a procedure. She offered to check with other practitioners at the office about whether they were willing to do the procedure. She informed me that none were. My discomfort with returning to Dr. Lin was solidified when I checked the after visit notes for the appointment. No details of our conversation about sterilization were included whatsoever. I should note that this conversation took up most of the appointment. This is obviously important in general, but it is especially important for those seeking sterilization. We already have to excessively justify ourselves about our choices. Having this included in our medical records can be used to aid us in the future by verifying that we are consistent in our desires. I wish I had realized that sooner after my appointment so it could be added. It would have made some things much easier for me. This all left me with a really bad taste in my mouth. I felt like an attempt was barely made to genuinely listen to me as an individual, and I wasn’t taken seriously due to my age, despite the time I have dedicated to this topic. Thankfully, I was able to find a doctor that really heard me out and took me seriously, and my surgery is now scheduled elsewhere."
"This is a hard review to write because Dr. Lin is a very nice lady. I have not seen her as a pregnancy patient. When my previous gynecologist at this office left the practice about 8 or 9 years ago, I was given Dr. Lin. I saw the previous doctor there for PCOS and my yearly exams. Dr. Lin "claims" that she specializes in PCOS, but actual knows little about it and the advice she gives is not only wrong, but bad for PCOS patients. I finally got tired of her not knowing how to treat my medical needs and telling me she was dropping my BC (due to my age and nearing menopause). I went to a different gynecologist who immediately sent a script over for my BC due to PCOS. I then saw a PCOS specialist who was able to answer all my questions and get me the help that I needed with my PCOS. She understand the terrible side effects of hair loss on your head an unwanted hair growth in other areas that are caused by PCOS, as well as other issues (but those are my big ones that have caused me YEARS of ANXIETY). Dr. Lin never cared about these important issues and always dismissed my grave concerns. She should not be seeing patients with PCOS, as she does not have the medical knowledge to properly treat us, and her lack of treatment borders on malpractice, IMO. If she would have treated me correctly many years ago (or if I would have found my current PCOS doctor earlier), I would not have had all of these years of baldness and unwanted hair to deal with. I have gotten out of the shower more times that not and cried over all of the hair loss. It is too late to turn it all around now, but at least I can keep it from getting worse now back on BC and the proper other medications. She did just find a gynecologist at my annual exams, but I DO NOT recommend her to anyone with PCOS."
"Dr Lin Is the best gynecologist there is! She takes her time to listen to any of your needs or concerns she has a lot of empathy! I will rate her the best!!"
"Dr. Lin in my opinion has got to be the best gynecologist I've ever seen. She took the time to listen to my concerns and did not rush me. She checked everything and left no stone unturned. This was not my first time in the office. However, my first time seeing Dr Lin, I am so glad I did. I was a nervous wreck at first. She quickly calmed my fears and talked me through everything. Her nurse Olivia is 5 ⭐'s also. Of the many practices I have been in. These two together are hands down the best. If you are on the fence about going. I highly recommend them."
