School of Theatre & Dance

Located at 1325 Theatre Drive in Kent, Ohio, the School of Theatre & Dance at Kent State University is a place where students are encouraged to explore their potential and define success on their own terms. The Roe Green Center for the School of Theatre and Dance provides a supportive and nurturing community where students can develop their skills and pursue their passions in the performing arts.

The School of Theatre and Dance offers a range of comprehensive programs rooted in a professional culture that challenges students to excel in the dynamic disciplines of theatre and dance. From training in acting and musical theatre to dance performance and design technology, students have the opportunity to transform their passion into a profession.

Recent productions at the School of Theatre and Dance include "Rent" and "On the Cusp" by the Kent Dance Ensemble, showcasing the talent and dedication of the students and faculty. Director Tony Hardin was recently named a USITT Fellow, recognizing his contributions to the field of theatre technology.

Prospective students are invited to visit the School of Theatre and Dance for a tour or attend events like Dance @KentState Master Classes and Discover Theatre and Dance Days to learn more about the programs and meet with faculty and current students. The School also offers summer study opportunities, including the Summer Dance Intensive.

The School of Theatre and Dance acknowledges the traditional people of the land, including the Nations of the Delaware, Miami, Mingo, Ottawa, Shawnee, Wyandot, and Cayuga. This land acknowledgement honors the legacies of Native Americans and their cultural and spiritual practices.

With programs ranging from Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance to Master of Fine Arts in Acting for the Returning Professional, the School of Theatre and Dance at Kent State University provides a diverse and enriching environment for students to pursue their artistic aspirations. Auditions for programs like the B.F.A. in Musical Theatre are held multiple times throughout the year, giving students multiple opportunities to showcase their talents.
