"Not sure why everyone is hating on the new bass pro. I liked it a lot, way bigger, got fishing on one side hunting on the other. One thing I’d change is all them fish in that tank tho. Them bigger fish need taken outta there. Wouldn’t wanna live my whole life in that small tank."
"I went here yesterday and it was honestly a total let down and it was nothing like the one in the old mall. The stuff that bass pro sells isn't really for me, but I always liked going to the old store in the mall. the decorations, the animals, the fishtank, the store layout, the shooting range, all of it. It always made for a fun experience and I always enjoyed walking around and exploring. With the announcement that the mall would be demolished in the coming years, I knew that the bass pro there would have to close. I also heard about these plans for a bigger and better superstore and was excited. The store I went to yesterday was not at all bigger or better. It looks like just another sporting goods store with some more decorations. It was maybe half the size and definitely sold less products. It was missing everything that made the store unique. The fishtank is maybe 1/8th of the size and pushed to the very back of the store. There were less decorations and less charm that made the store itself. It was honestly very boring and nothing like the old one. Like I said before, what bass pro sells isn't for me but I always had fun there. This store lacks everything that made the old one unique. The theme, the feel, and just everything that differentiated it from other sports stores. This store is a major downgrade from the old one and was definitely a huge disappointment unfortunately."
"I remember when I was a kid and the bass pro shop first opened at the mall. It was amazing, it inspired me to join the boyscouts and become an eagle scout. It was always a fun adventure from the rock climbing wall to the shooting gallery where the little frog would spit at you when you shot it. I learned how to fish, shoot and fell in love with camping. This new bass pro is nothing like that bass pro I remember and loved, it's basically a warehouse. Yes, there are animals along the walls and tracks in the floor, but it lacks the outdoor feel. It lacks the adventure, the thrill. This store does not deserve the Bass Pro shop name, it's merely a giant Cabelas. #notmybasspro #fake P.S. it's weird to mention the giant wall of windows that let the Ikea sign peer in..."
"It felt like a bigger cabelas and not like a bass pro shop. It has no soul to it. There’s a VERY small aquarium, feels like half the size of the old cincy mall one. Not a lot of taxidermied animals. No arcade shooting range. No uncle bucks candy and fudge shack. Growing up bass bro always felt like a experience, it was somewhere I could spend hours just because the aesthetic. This is just a sporting goods store. I hope eventually they remodel and incorporate more things to make this feel like a bass pro."
"The New Cincinnati Bass Pro Shop, opening night. Was quite the crowd, with live music, and special guests including Johnny Morris. The now closed Mills location was hands down one of my favorite places to visit, so how does it compare? First things first, it is not fair to compare the two, as they were conceived in two different periods in the company’s history. This location features many of the new elements that Bass Pro’s premier locations feature; animal tracks in the floor, a “colonial” arched roof in the center, and a single sided aquarium. First the pros, the best thing about this location? Not having to smell mold the whole time you shop. The Mills location being so old, with poor ventilation (no A/C), and a rotting mall attached to it, made the whole store smell REALLY bad. Some off my shirts still smell like it to this day. If you like the smell of fresh treated wood, get here soon, the smell of wood hits you like a nice cozy cabin in the hills of Tennessee, come smell while it lasts. The use of the Ohio bicentennial barn as a feature of the colonial arch is a great touch, and a great nod to Ohio’s pride. The cons, the most notable that people will notice, is the much smaller aquarium. The Mills location had an aquarium that could be seen from 3 different sides, had a very tall rock formation, and even a tube that you could look into. This location, like many new Bass Pros, has it on the back wall, with only one piece of glass to view in. The water feature is nice, but leaves much to be desired, and one notable feature missing is the mountain goat that was found at the top of the rock formation in the atrium at the Mills location. Another con, would be the fact the architecture of this building is like a Walmart. High, warehouse style ceilings, with no finely crafted plaster, and no second floor to get good views. Gone also is the cooper-esk flooring, replaced with concrete. This location is nice, but it is unfair for me to evaluate the store while looking through rose colored glasses, and comparing it to a store that it never will be. The Mills location is dead, go visit the new Bass Pro with an open mind (and an open wallet)."
